Okay, this is pretty wacked, it makes me very surprised that Suzuki chose "Hayabusa" as the nickname for the GSX-1300R.
I think everyone seems to know Hayabusa is the Japanese translation of Peregrine Falcon.
However what never gets mentioned is there was a previous Japanese vehicle with the nickname Hayabusa...
The Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa...

Doesn't sound familar? That's cause the US Navy used the codename Oscar to describe these. They killed quite a few Americans.
I've known about the Oscar for a long time but I didn't know it's real name till I saw one a couple weeks ago.

OH YES-------------those crafty little yellow bastards DO KNOW what they're doing!!!

This is the Hayabusa after all. Seems like some clever Japanese marketeer found a subtle way to commentate on Americans' fascination with motors far too powerful for their own good.
Good point...
The first Hayabusa required direct control input from a Japanese airman to kill Americans.
The new Busa is obviously superior in every way as it convinces Americans to become Kamikazee warriors all by themselves.
I'd be surprised if someone actually took offense to that...![]()
