Hey nesr people. I'm in a bad situation needing help desperately. I somehow got a flat on 89, due to what seems to be a slow leek. I made it off 89 into quechee vt at the mobil station. I'm 89 miles from my apartment in burlington and 200 from home in rhode island. Is there anyone nearbye that can help me? Its a 180 55 17 tire, for an 08 zx6r. If you have advice or can help please call 401-787-7194. My name is jeff.

I just got a call from a fellow nesr person. Chris a local shop owner is going t come bail me out of this fucking mess. He has a shop within an hour of me and said he was leaving to come get me. Where would I be without nesr?? Oh that's right stuck in quechee vt, with a flat, waiting for my mom to come up with a trailer... Aka 4 hours. Hopefully I still go home tonight, I'm a hot mess right now.
I think in the end of this mess I'll be looking for a buyer for my bike, as much as I love riding, I need to have a car for full time, year round transportation. I'm not sure I'm happy with that decision but none the less its probably the right one.

NESR is a great community.
You are upset right now......don't make any decisions you're not thinking clearly
Chris (FTMS) is a great guy. I'm assuming its him thats coming to get you. Glad you got the help you needed.
One flat tire and you're done riding for good?

Wait till he puts a plug in your tire and it 'splodes!
What will you do when you crash? Commit seppuku?![]()
If loud pipes save lives, imagine what learning to ride would do.
glad to see there are still folks out there willing to help someone out. its definetly a biker thing-how many cars stopped and offered assistance? i'll always stop and at least offer my phone. if you already own the bike, keep it. the next buyer is gonna try to lowball you and you're gonna end up with enough money to buy a car that's probably gonna be a bigger pain in the ass than the bike! go to the hirchack auction. you can pick up a winter beater for $400-$500 if you arent to particular about what it is. seen quite a few minivans sell for under $1k and most were in pretty decent shape. they usually have 200 or so cars on the block every time. i think they're on sat and wed.
glad everything worked out
cheers odieoh24
Wish I would have seen this earlier. Glad you got help.
Sell the bike and get a car. I have a nice 900rr I will sell you in the spring.![]()

NESR is good for sure!
and if anything, one good deed deserves another. I've gotten help from NESRians a few times, and have since, stopped to gas up a guy pushing his bike on the Mass Pike (15 miles to the next exit!), referred a couple people to this site, and trucked a guy's harley from central MA to ME
As others said, don't make any rash decisions just yet.
But, myself, having had a bike-only situation to get around before, I'm sort of on your side: the bike shouldn't be your permanent, primary mode of transportation!
Upset to say the least. Idk why but it was all i could do to hold it together on the way home. IDK why but i lost it when i had to call my mom and ask her to bail me out.
jcbell - your right it was Chris (FTMS), he drove 50 miles in each direction to get me, sold me a new tire at a great price, mounted, balanced it, and it was great conversation the entire time.
Bergs - No idk what i'm going to do.... I love riding, but i'm not sure it should be primary only mode of transportation expecially when idk where i'm going to be wehn i graduate.
Currently - Funny thing is, he had a plug ready for me. And he even said if i asked about plugs on here half would say go for it, half would say dont. He came down, and i felt the least i could do was buy a tire off him and support a semi local shop. Needless to say, i'm extremely glad i did. I learned a lot tonight.
Sporty - Thanks. I'll take time to figure this all out.
odieoh - where is that auction you speak of? Can you PM me with more details? No cagers stopped. I managed to get off the exit and get into a gas station. It was clearly obvious there was a problem but no one even said a word. Thank GOD my blackberry functions with one bar of service.
Doc - No worries. It happens. But thank you none the less
Bhavesh - You know what they say, pay it forward. I did stop a few times this summer to help bikers that were on the side of the road, hell i even loaned my stock tool kit to someoen so he could disassemble and reassemble his bike while i waited... for an hour plus. Not that i asked for anything in return.
FTMS - Where do i begin? You bailed me out today in a way... well i didnt think anyone would. I put this post up here as a long shot, a hope and a prayer, and within minutes you answered it. Ontop of that it sounded like you canceled your plans for the night, just so you could help me. You dropped everything and came to my aid. I wish i could repay you somehow. I was in a bad spot, both with the flat tire, as well as emotionally and mentally. You really came through for me. I know this sounds corney and gay, but thanks man, you truely are a stand up individual. The world needs more people like you.
Nesr - you pulled through for me. A great network of people here... Now i'm off to go warm my toes and get some food. After leaving to go home at noon and just getting home at 9:45, i'm tired. Hungry and a mess still. Im not sure why i'm so distraught... I just am. Peace out for now yall. I'll be lurking all night.

I've had more than one chance to call for help, and at no time did my calls go unanswered. There is a great community of people on here.
Chris is a stand-up guy, I only met him at some TTD this past season and you can tell right away that he'd help you if needed. Glad he was there for you.
As far as getting rid of the bike, what are you planning on doing for transportation when the snow flies? Just remember this, now is the worst time to sell a bike, because everyone's looking to pay minimal money. And if you decide that you wanted to ride again in the spring, it's the worst time to buy.
Wait a second. You are ridding from Burlington to RI, and were/are planning to have at I89? Rt. 7 outta the dirty-burly, 17 to 100, break for food and fuel near Killingon, 100 south all the way until you can figure out how to hook up with 122 south in Mass, that will toss you in Worcester when you can jump on 146 for the rest. Not that I've ever done this....
noodles, seems like a lot of backroads with a long long ride time. i usually go 89 --> 91 --> rt. 2.
Also, i live in the southern corner of RI, it sounds like that'll dump me in the top of the state... another thing, rt 7 is a lot of 50 to 40 to 50 zones.

Do what you like! 7 isn't much fun, but it is the way to get to 17 where the fun begins and you are only on it for 20 minutes. Last time I did that route this summer I left Burlington at about noon and was in Providence by at about 5:30. When I lived up there I always used to make the error of rushing the drive/ride up and down. Just make sure you have some fun with it!
Stegosaurous- Glad I could help. Have a good to to RI. Oh yea, you better make it this time because I won't be around. Going to go play in the dirt today. Have a safe trip.

Sorry to hear about your mishap man. Hopefully round 2 goes a bit smoother. Don't sell the bike! You'll regret it next summer.
(well, ok... I'll trade you my car for your bike)

If he would rather do 89 and 91 then rt 100 then he does need a car
I woulda plugged it
Glen Beck is John the Baptist
Well i got home safe and sound... Everything went fine on round two. It woulda been cheaper to plug it but i felt like that woulda been taking advantage of FTMS for making him drive each way, just to plug an already shitty tire. Either way it needed to be changed, and i had the $ for the tire, i was just trying to wait.

Glad you made it! Wish I saw this earlier. Next time post in the VT forum too!
It's understandable that your nerves were on edge after something like this. Just give it a few days to subside before you go making any big decisions.
Hats off to you for riding from VT to RI in the middle of November.
Chris is a great guy!!! Nice work.
Gald all worked out. Chris is a great guy!!

Chris kicks ass! I've never met a more helpful motorcyclist. If you ever are in the neighborhood take him out to lunch at the local pizza place. You won't be disappointed.
