I ran out of money when I picked up my helmet, gloves, and jacket, so I still need pants and boots. Also, let me know if what I have now sucks or not, I just picked out things on comfort/appearance. On the boots and pants, how comparable is sizing for normal clothes, by this I'm asking if I would by size 11 boots since I wear size 11 sneakers.
This is what I have so far:
Helmet - HJC CL-15 Crypt

Gloves - Joe Rocket Mojo
Joe Rocket Product
Jacket - Joe Rocket Phoenix 5.0

I wouldn't say that anything you got sucks, certainly it is better then wearing nothing, and should give an acceptible level of protection. For boots and pants, your best bet is to try them on first. I find that there is a 1 size up or down difference from different manufactures (boots especially).
check egay for some oxtar tcs boots. Relatively cheap (got mine new for $40 beans shipped). Pretty comfy, look pretty good, good protection. I got a 1/2 size larger and fit perfectly.
Sizing depends on the brand. Most manufactures have sizing charts out there so break out your tape measure.
On the gloves you may want to consider getting something with the gauntlet style.
I would agree that gauntlet style gloves are important. I have Firstgear air overpants 2.0 that I like a lot and work well when you want to wear your work outfit underneath. I have some Dianese boots but am currently looking something that comes up higher.
I piss excellence!
what type of pants are you looking for? I know Icon makes some good riding jeans...but if your looking for leather riding pants I have a set of Alpinestar track pants that are top notch..but pricey
also sidi and alpinestar make good boots...i have SMX+ boots and i ride with them all the time
yeah, looks like you got a pretty good start on a nice gear collection. is there better availible?...i suppose so, but thats the fun in upgrading later. the stuff you have so far is plenty good enough though.
i would also recomend gauntlets. they are bulky but they make a better "seal" to your jacket sleaves. handy when the weather gets cooler...and a little safer in a crash.
good boots are gonna run you over $200...just FYI
This is right now just a commuter type deal, so I don't need, nor can afford, the top of the line shit. I do understand that quality costs $$ though
No leather for the pants
get some of the icon pants, they are like 80$ or something like that and ride with some sort of alpinestar or sidi boots...check online for the best prices on things a lot of places will price match if you find a cheaper one...i got my alpinestar jacket for 450$ shipped when it listed origionally for like 675
