Anyone Have Suomy?

Im in the market to buy another helmet and i was really looking into the Suomy Spec 1R Extremes.

I have an Arai Profile in medium atm and it hurts my head after about 40 mins of riding, so i figured id size up for the Suomy.

Does anyone on here rides in them? How are they? Fit? Feel? Worth it? Just wanted some opinions before i pull the trigger

I have a Vandal and have worn a Spec 1r. I love Suomy, i crashed in the bowl and whacked my head pretty good, not anymore brain damage then i had before hand. I think they are worth it and their sizes fit my fat head to boot. They run bigger then AGV fyi

I do not have the Spec-1R Extreme but I do wear the regular Spec-1R. I LOVE it. I crashed in the bowl as well and it held up extremely well which is why I went with another one. It fits my noggin' well too since I have an oval head. Anti-fog is great and it's very light. It will be tight at first but forms to your head nicely.

I have a Spec-1R Extreme Bostrom. LOVE IT. light, comfy, good vents. Peeps say they're noisy, but I could never tell. Shields suck to change, but once you figure it out, no biggie. I have a light smoke and never changed it....Dark smoke is just too dark.

depends on shape of your head and face. I had issues with my arai profile, but love my Suomy SPEC-1R. I went with a MED helmet, but with the thinner cheek pads for the right fit.

hmm thats the prob im iffy on the sizes. my Arai is alright until i ride after awhile and it kills.

i think my head shape would be considered intermediate oval? kind of got a round wide head. haha. but yea thanks for the input! got some friends with the spec1r extreme and ill try it on before i buy it!

looking into the Wall Street one for sheer graphic. it does scream BUY ME!

I have a round/wide head and fits nicely. i shaved the cheek pads downs a couple mm's and it's much better. You can order any part of the insides in a bunch of different sizes to fit your melon.

had a Spec1R that I loved. replaced it with an Extreme which I slammed my head on the pavement after highsiding out of 12. replaced with a Scorpion and got a concussion crashing in soft dirt/grass. went back to a Spec1R which is what I'm currently wearing most of the time. awesome helmets and when it comes time for a replacement I'll buy another one.

the only difference between the regular Spec1R and the extreme is the middle forehead vent, shape of the vent/wing and the lining is just a bit nicer but the regular has a nice lining anyway.

I have a Suomy Spec 1 Extreme. I went from an Arai to this one. It vents well but going trough the bowl i find it limits the visibility up track.

hmm thanks for the heads up! i just ordered the spec 1r extreme in a large. should be here soon, and even got a gift card for 20% of the purchase price from kneedraggers. oh how will i spend the free 80$ i just got

How is the shield change in the vandal? I have a spec 1R and I hate the shield change

I really dig the Suomy's, but last time I checked they just didn't fit my head right. Arai Vector on the other hand... perfect.

whats so bad about it? pop the side cover off then slide the release over, pull the visor off and pop the new one on and lock it and snap the cover back on.

its much better than an Arai.

Open visor, lift release levers, slide visor out, stick new one in, close visor.

No popping off of any covers. How is that hard? It might take a little practice to get the angle right but I've never had any issues changing visors on my Arai.

I haven't done it myself but have heard and seen people fight with them.

I think Arai updated the visor system a few years ago. It really shouldn't be that difficult.
