Yes, but this statement: "American Suzuki said it would focus on selling Suzuki motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles and marine outboard engines." could have far reaching ramifications - in terms of new bikes we see from them in the near future. I hope so, as their line up has been somewhat small and stagnant, IMO. I would particularly like to see new dual sport and enduro models.

buy back? sort of like Toyota with the Tacoma?

should I buy a suzuki car today, drive it a year, beat the bag out of it for a year, and get it bought back for more than I paid??

edit: 15 second google talks about buyback of stock...not cars...

While the bikes and cars are under the same umbrella, the problem was the cars. Once they get their issues there resolved and go back to just bikes, ATVs, and boat motors they will be fine.

It's just a matter of cleaning up the mess they have created for themselves by building shitty cars.

The Kazashi actually had pretty good reviews from what I've seen. Neat looking car, better seller if it had 300hp.

I had a short stint in the car rental industry right after I graduated from college. We had many Suzuki's in our fleet and they were complete shit. They would barely make it through two customers without a trip to the shop.

Granted that was a while ago, but given the recent news I'm guessing they haven't improved much since then.

#1 selling brand of car in most of the middle-east...

They thought they could repeat that performance here by bringing over the head of the car division in Japan to run all of their US endevers. It didn't work. Cars didn't sell. Motorcycles went in the shitter because they overloaded inventory based on 2008 sales numbers. Then they spent the next three years trying to clear out old inventory while not investing anything in new design/inventory. They fucked themselves.

Re: U.S. Suzuki files for bankruptcy protection

Anyone own an SX4? I got the impression that they were a pretty well-designed small AWD car.

Suzuki USA never got their market position right, never got their dealer channel right, and this is the result. Amazing considering how much market share they have in Asia.
