A pic my buddy snapped last night. Why would you do that? There are so many better bikes for that job...
That is criminal. Ugh. I just died a little inside.

confused....you mean, why did he take his Monster to the drags strip...or is there something else I missed?
If its the former the answer is twofold.
1. Its the only bike he has...
2. Its fun to take the only bike you have to the drag strip...
At least that's what I hear. I would be too embarrased to do that with my Strada but that's my problem!!!

No, the fact that he extended the swingarm of said Monster
I'm all for people bringing their bike up to the 1/4 mile to wring it out, but butchering the handling of a bike that was never intended to be a dragster is criminal. But hey, different strokes...
DOH...you're right....what an idiot!!!! (him AND me!)

It's great that's he's using the extended swing arm for what it's intended for, but why a Monster? In a world where liter bikes are cheap and plentiful, why use the expensive, naked, Italian canyon carver?
maybe hes bracket racing, where huge hp numbers dont matter as long as your consistant. but i can see what your sayin schleppy, thats why they make nitro harleys.
looks like fun

air cooled ducati doesn't scream "drag me" but whatever. bet the fizzer handed him his ass.
OK...serious question....
I know nothing about most things and even less about Drag Racing. But, on a Monster, would extending the swing arm atually improve his launch or overall times? I sort of assumed that that was done to compensate for huge freekin' motors....

The weight would be further forward, so you'd be able to give it more throttle without lofting the front end. My M900 had real issues keeping the front wheel down. Yeah, that's it. It was definately the bike's fault...![]()
on an amatueur level nothing really. bracket racing is basically racing against your own time. you lay down a "base" time and then run as close to it as possible without going faster. the guy with the slower time will have a head start. the 2nd bike will go and theoretically the 2nd bike (faster bike) should catch up to the slow bike and be dead nuts with it at the finish line. but thats where reaction times, bike setup etc come into play.
