I've never ridden a motard so I'm sure this a (in the words of lady-flyin-low) noobtastic question... how do they slide the rear when they're turning to the right??? I'm going to go out on a limb here and venture the guess that the rear brake is not the right foot pedal like on a street bike???
I think they use the rear brake as well as feathering the clutch. Whatever it is, they're 1000 times better at riding than me...
Disclaimer: I cannot do it, but Im trying to gather information so one day I can grow some nuts (and skills) to do it.
Its all in the clutch/gears. Short version: bang down enough gears to get a rear slide and feather the clutch (and probably use the throttle as well) to control. There is a PDF I think somewhere that gives more details. Of course the day I understand everything involved to pull this move successfully/ consistantly is the day I win my first Expert race...translation: a long fucking time!
No matter, this is just sick nastyness. The stoppie, while leaned at the beginning of the race...fuck me sideways thats awesome!
Supa Motarded! If you see me backin it in, keep watching...Im about to crash
Zip Tie Alley #237
bike is set up exactly like your r1 in terms of controls layout. and they can back it in to the left or right.

yeah, so i wish there were more supermoto racing hosted on SPEED... definitely one of the cooler forms of motorcycle racing
edit: oh, and the vid highlights 2 things for me -- 1) how awesome supermoto is (though i wish they'd have more of it at real time, cuz slow-mo doesn't do it justice), and 2) the distaste i have for pink floyd...

two things I remember reading, are the light weight and suspension travel. They have alot more travel, so what you wouldn't do on a track bike you will do on one of these. usually if you tried to counter lean and slow down like that you would bottom out a regular bike. Also easier to keep lighter bike up. We need the people like Ken C or someone else to chime in.
