What'd the lighting kit cost you all said and done? New stator?
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
New stator, one with a so-so reputation even... I didn't want to get mine re-coiled (I like the idea of having a spare OEM stator), and the only way to get more than 55W out of an 06+ YZF (at the moment) is to swap in a WR450 stator, which means left side cover and crank (about $900 on a budget)...
I went with a Moose Stator (and I'm running it as an AC circuit - most problems seem to come when people try to add a charging system and share a ground with the DC and AC circuits). My headlight draws 35W and my tail light is 3W or so - if you can go to LED tail, it will save you wattage (3W vs 15-35W). I don't plan on doing much night riding, haven't been on a pitch black road with it, but it seems to light up well... dims down at idle obviously, but I really didn't mind going AC due to the cost of alternatives and the fact that I wont be running it at night on a regular basis.
Moose Stator - $180 ish
Moose Rectifier - $20 ish
Polisport HL - $70 ish
Acerbis LED tail - $30ish
$300 - not bad.
