One quick piece of advice if your going to list it for sale do it now! You already missed bike selling season and the window is getting smaller everyday....
So...lemmie get this straight.
You have a loan on it?
You paid $9900
You are wondering if you could sell it for more than 8k?
If I were buying a GSXR and I could get a new one for less than 2k more than a used one, I would do that. Especially if I needed a loan. So what does that make your bike worth? The answer is that you have to find the person who is willing to own your bike. And pay what youd like. That takes time and marketing to find the right guy. It mike sell in the first 15 minutes or could take months. The best bet is to check out what other 2011's are selling for....eBay, craigslist, backpage, motorcycle forums (gixxer.com) etc. Advertise in all those places. Some advice, get awesome pictures of the bike...buyers LOVE pictures. Good luck Joe, hope you get another bike soon.
Good advice by last post - pictures help a lot.
List it for $8.5K on craigslist with some nice pics.
it'll sell for 8...

"If your mom's got a schlong, run away, she's not your mom...."
Or i just take it to the dealer and get 8k without the hassle of waiting. Going to do that on Wednesday, want to get a bit more riding in first lol.
I am not sure if I will buy another bike next year or not, it's in the air. I really want to get scuba certified and buy some gear for that!
If I do get a bike it will probably be a used junker to fly around on and that I can bring to the track for some TDD without worries![]()
You mean like what we told you to buy in the first place????
But... but... I am a huge bitch, don't know what I'm talking about and I'm totally wrong that it's finacially irresponsible to finance a new bike!
Ok, sorry, but this was like a fucking train wreck dream come true!

Jackie,
Thanks for saying this first. I was holding my breath waiting for someone.
Anyone who could not see this coming....
Ok, I think you are all correct. But, let's move on. I certainly would not like to be in a position to have to sell my bike/s
There are multiple parts of this post that I am confused by.....
1.) You stated earlier, when someone else suggested bringing it to the dealer, that they said they'd give you $8k in TRADE, not buy it for $8k. Now you're saying you're going Wednesday to get the $8k from them for the bike?
2.) Your initial reasoning behind getting out of this bike were purely financial. Therefore, once you get rid of the bike you are considering taking up diving, which between getting certified and acquiring your own equipment isn't exactly an econo-hobby either?
Eagerly awaiting a "school me on diving" thread![]()

I like your bike. But I'm looking to spend $4100...
Let me know if you will work with me... otherwise GLWS
if your planning on picking up another bike in the spring why not just keep the '11? or atleast hold onto it until the spring when everyone is going nuts after the first heat wave.
your paying what a few hundred a month for the payment? plus full coverage obviously. i would really look at your finances and see if you can hold onto it. your going to get bent over pretty bad whichever way you look at it if you try to sell that bike right now.
i understand your in a bind but just check all your avenues before you give it the boot. i sold my R1 last year to get my priorities straight and by spring this year i was having worse withdrawals than a crack head. i will never be without two wheels now.
anyway do what you've got to do

Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.
It's going to take him nearly forever, because Suzuki has been offering zero percent financing on these bikes for about the last year. Have to wonder just how many cash buyers out out there for a 2011.
Low retail on KBB is $8,060. Trade-in value on NADAguides is less than $6,000. $8,000 buy-back from a dealer is an unbelievable deal.
“It's 2 minutes for any capable adult.”
That was a trade in offer. And the dealer can shoot high when they know there are going to make a good chunk of the overage back up in the bike it's being traded for. They will cost average it back to reality and make a killing when they sell his bike to someone else.
Your $6k trade in price is fairly accurate. Little secret... On a straight buy, the dealer will need to be roughly 15% lower than trade value. Which means that they will likely spend no more than $5100 if they have to write a check for the bike. When the dealer buys a bike outright, they don't have the luxury of "profit" in the bike they are selling in the trade deal. So they need to make that up on the seller of the used bike. I would be very surprised if any dealer would write a check anywhere near $6000 on this thing.
I'm patiently waiting to see MOM's straight-buy offer...

sounds like either way you go your going to be paying on a bike you don't physically own.
goodluck.
Yes I owed 8k on the financing so in theory they wiped the financing debt and took the bike back. While I owed 8k on it I'm sure a bunch of that was interest so they made out by taking it back, it was still new and not beat on. I lucked out I think, I don't think it's normal for them to do that, not sure.
Sorry for the late reply I've been away for a while but now I'm back.
really.
