Thinking of a brand new toy next year, and stumbled onto this. CB1000R, Is this even available in the US?
Who can tell me about this beast? I love Honda so thats a start.
But I really want to stick with a V-Twin engine, it's a sickness can't help it..
If I did get this the first mod is the exhuast.. Blahhhhhhhhhhh...

RIP A.B. RIP BEET, I Ride in Leathers because I would rather sweat than Bleed...
One of the Motorcyclist writers has one for a long-term bike and seems to like it. I think its cool as hell and yes you can get them here.
You should go look at the new Tuono.

They are available in the US, but I have not seen a single one on the street so can't be too big of a seller. All the reviews I read are excellent. It carries its weight low, is very smooth and flickable for the size and is built/designed in Italy. It's main problem in Europe and the states has been the new speed triple. The Hornet 600 (the 600 version of this in Europe) is a huge success and I saw many around Paris when I was there in June. It is a little more civilized than the Speed Triple, but supposedly does not have the same visceral effect. I think it looks better than the speed triple or Tuono. I personally don't think it has any faults, except for the competition!
There was a head to head comparison with it and the Z1000 in one of my magazines, I'll try to look it up.
Friend: man riding this really hurts my balls
Me: Well you're not supposed to sit on your balls!
I asked about it at a dealer and they claimed that the sales numbers were low because Honda didn't bring over much inventory - you can't sell what you don't have.
That said, it's pricey for what it is (maybe because it's made in italy) and down on power. Magazine jockeys will get a Z1000 instead.
I was looking at getting one, but a used Street Triple came up on craigslist at the right time.
I've seen one in RI. Don't think it sold yet. Every so often Honda makes a standard 1000 and they don't sell all that well. CB1000, 919, and this latest model.

Micky Finn's Honda in CT has one. Looks great in person, problem is, Triumph and Kawi have this market locked down. With the lack of a huge ad campaign this bike is destin to fail in the states.
I have ridden the Z1000 and it has a stronger motor than the Honda. The Triumph has a much stronger character as well with more torque than both where you need it. What most people don't get about the Honda that the sum of the parts is more than the individual. I think some magazines get it. If you needed a commuter that you could have fun on this would be a terrific bike and likely more reliable than either of the two competitors. Most people in the states don't buy bikes as commuters, so I can't see these Honda's selling well. But, can one honestly say that 100+hp in the rear wheel is not enough? ;-) Anyway, I think these look better than either the Triumph or the Z...my two cents
there was one for sale i think boston craigslist for $6k ish.

I saw one at Greater Boston Motorsports earlier this year. Yea there have been comparisons between the CB1000, Z1000, Speed Triple, and the Duc Streetfighter. Bunch of videos and articles online.
