Can some one tell me how to take out the battery for SV650.
I usally start my bike 2'xs a month but I failed to do so for a month and tried to start it.... of course stupid me kept doing it and I think I killed the battery by keep pressing the button.
Thanx in advance.

On the SV's I think you need to remove one of the side panels under the seat to get to the seat mounting bolts.. then once the seat is off you can reach the battery and hook it up to a trickle charger.
Its been a while since I have worked on an SV so don't quote me on that.
you need to take the side panels off on each side then you can get at the seat bolts, once you get the seat off there is a plasctic panel under fuses & relays that just lifts out, then you can see the battery, hokk charger or jumpers to it etc.Originally posted by SVGirl

if you try jumping it from a car battery, make sure the car is NOT running, the car's charging system will damage the bike's charging system, but just jumping with battery is no problem, make sure you don't reverse polarity.
you should not start your bike 2x a month unless you are going to ride it. it takes 15-20 minutes of riding speed just to charge the battery from the start... simply idling will not recharge battery
I recommend getting some type of battery tender.. you can get a cheap automatic 1.5 amp charger from walmart for less than $20, it will come with a lead that you can permenently attach to you battery and leave accesable without having to take the seat off to connect the battery tender.

Good to know that the bike is not like the car.... I suppose me riding around the garage didn't really help... teehee.

Ed, you will be so proud of me!!! I took out the battery all by me self! Whoo-hoooo!
But we are still on for the coffee, whenever you want to come into the city, I'm up for it!
Will be out of town next weekend, and the following weekend, but anytime after that, it's all good. Maybe the weather will warm up and we can take a ride as well!
oh, hey one question, after the battery is recharged, if i put it back it should start right?
