Less snarky version. Sounds like you have a single pole, double throw switch (SPDT). Google will tell you the details of how that works. You want to use the middle contact and one of the outer ones; the other will not be used. The switch will have two or three positions. If three, the center and one of the other positions will turn the ignition off and the last position will turn it on.

Just tighten them a bit. You really wanna get pro-style, put some silicone grease in there to keep the corrosion out.

Or heat shrink pushed up over the connector and then heated.
Get the connectors on nice and firm and then Use some silicone/UTV/etc to cover it all up. A big glob on the back. Now they're corrosion and water protected, and won't come off.
