I've been looking around for a track bike as an upgrade from my 09' FZ6R. I've been doing well with it in red group at tonys track days but it's weight and rider position really hasn't been what i've wanted. I looked around for an R6 and found an 05' that had gone down at a local dealer here in Nashua, NH.
I noticed it had been dropped when I bought it, and found out it was a clean title. So I bought it!
I didn't quite notice how off the handlebars were until I started riding it though, it drives straight, but it leans to the right on the highway and it certainly turns easier going right than it does left. Sure enough when i looked at it, the wheel and the triple tree assembly arent straight. A friend of mine pointed me to this Dave Moss video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbmF26_xPi8 and I gave it a shot. Loosening the lower triple tree didn't seem to do the trick.
The next thing I am going to try is getting it on a front stand and loosen all the triple tree clamps and try to straighten it then. Looking to see if anyone has any experience in doing this and can offer me some insight on what I should do. Obviously take it to a suspension shop is my last ditch effort, but i'd rather have the knowledge to do this myself.
Here's a pic with the front end removed that really shows how off it is.
Thanks for the help!

Honestly you can get it close by what you are doing but.... there may be more going on. I would if you are planning on doing some track days ECT. Have Peter K. put it on the rack and Zero it out and make it strainght and True. It’s worth all the money and won't turn on its own LOLOLOLOL.

Computrack for sure. Gotta start with a straight bike before you do anything else. I hope you got a good deal on the bike. Your looking at about a grand to make it straight.
1000 bucks today
@pigman, It certainly did meet something. There is clear evidence on the bike it had. Asked the dealer if it had a clean title, which it did. And I looked it over, everything looked pretty minor/cosmetic. I looked at the front end but not having the foresight or experience to really see this, I didn't see how bad it was.
I'm going to do what I can on my own but I am going to look into computrack straightening it out. Deff was not thinking it would be $1000 investment to get it where it needs to be.
What would you consider a "good deal" on an 05' R6, 19k on the odo, clean title, with this type of condition to it? I'm having a pretty strong feeling I was another ignorant noobie that got taken advantage of by the dealership.
I have a certificate for a few bucks off a GMD measurement you're welcome to have if you want to get it checked.
Plan on being at the track any time soon? I'll be up at Loudon this weekend and a bunch of TTD's if you wanna do a hand-off.

A good deal for that bike not bent would be about 3000 imho. If it hasn't been too long I would be back to the dealer. Get them to straighten that shit out. You didn't sign up for a bike that turns on its own.

@gmdboston, I'll PM you.
@oreogaborio, I may be passing by, I'm heading to bike week so I won't be far off, I'll pm you too.
As far as price, I paid $4500 for the bike and I'm feeling like that was prob $1k more than I should have. Dammit. I'm going to go back to the dealer. There is no way they didn't know about it. Slimy sales move...
Thanks everyone for the help!
You paid a premium for a bike you knew had damage from hitting the ground and somehow it comes down to a slimy sales move?
I'd go to the dealer and let them know the bike is not right. See what they offer. If it was a car with unseen damage the dealer would be responsible. I don't see how it wouldn be any different with a bike. If they are willing to work with you or they tell you to screw off, take OreoGaborio up on his offer. In NY a call to the department of motor vehicles bureau of facility and consumer services would get action but this would not be my first step.
Normal is an illusion, what is normal to the spider is chaos to the fly.
I paid a premium for a bike I expressed had cosmetic damage. It's in the thick of bike season, not getting november prices on bikes. I'm not saying my ignorance isn't to blame but it's a shit situation. You can't honestly say a bike dealership that's been in business over 20+ years selling all kinds of new and used bikes didn't know it needed that much work. They cross their fingers hoping someone that doesn't know what to look for comes in and pays only $500 less than asking price.. That's slimy to me.
Did they put an inspection sticker on it?![]()
Yup

Case in point.... 700 bucks more than the one you got, but VERY well set up.

I'd go down to the dealer with printout of the photo you linked above and ask to speak with the manager.
You don't know how that bike arrived at the dealer. Maybe it was trade in that came directly off the street and into your hands. Maybe the dealer had no clue because the PO rode it into the showroom and the dealer flipped it.
You had the bike right in front of your very eyes and its not like anyone is able to conceal that type of misalignment with the front end.

Dealers always test ride bikes. That would be pretty apparent when it was test rode.
