I traded away my 95 610 and some cash for this yesterday. Pretty interesting riding it after being on the VFR for so long. First thoughts are that the VFR is pretty dam heavy. Never realized it until I swung a leg over this. Seems to have a fun motor, much more power down low than the VFR. Should be a fun second bike to have around.
Cool bike. I found one in a barn (literally) a couple years ago. Sold it and saw it again being used as a trackday bike at Loudon. What a exhaust note!!!
Is that a 92? I LOVE the old school white framed Ducs! I miss my 750 AND my 900ss.
Lose the stock mirrors and get some Napolean Bar ends.

So you know Jim White huh? Looks like I will have to go to his place soon and try out the 610.
I loved riding that bike. Wait until you hit some nice corners.

I have known Jim through nedb for years, but this is the first time I have met him in person. I figured you have had your way with this bike. This bike is really screwing up what I think of the VFR. The honda seems top heavy and under powered now. I'll ride both for awhile and maybe deal one or both away later. I would like to find something with the lowend of the Ducati, and screams on top, and is pretty light. Is that asking to much?

I've got a '97 If you have any questions or need some parts or odd special tools let me know. I love my 900
Like I said they say, nothing stops a party barge.

Son of a bitch. You all are really making me miss my 1996 900SS/SP!
I'd really more of like a compare / contrast on the VFR vs. the 900SS. I sold my Ducati, and thinking of getting a 5th Gen VFR.
If I was using a bike to commute, or was doing longer rides/trips, it would be on the VFR. The Honda is smooth, you have to keep the revs up( the power is 6500rpm and up), susp is soft and the bike feels heavy. The specs only show it as 50 lbs or so more than the Ducati, but it feels more like 150. The Ducati seems so much lighter, it is more like a dirtbike to me. I have never wanted to loft the front wheel of the VFR because of the soft power and excess weight. The Duc is so light and torquey, twist the throttle and it leaps forward.
I'm sure it sounds like I hate the VFR. I don't hate it, but for awhile now I thought it wasn't the right bike for me. I bought it with the intent of doing longer rides. The only long ride I have done was to South Carolina Thanksgiving day. And that was fucking brutal. Knees hurt, back hurt, couldn't sit straight up. Ended up with a pillow in my tank bag, so I could lean on it. Ended up doing 1000 miles in one day with it during that trip. For me it didn't work for my long trip. For running around locally, its alright. I would rather have a bike better for having my wife on the back of.
For going out for more spirited rides, it leaves alot to be desired. Thats where the complaints about the weight and power show up. Its bland, vanilla. For a play/sport bike I wanted something that impresses me when I turn the throttle. My biggest problem is that I have only rode a few different bikes, so I haven't known what it is I'm looking for. I have had a 94 CBR600, 07 VFR800, this Ducati, and rode a vstrom 1000. Of those the Duc is the closest to what I want. I think in the end, I will need 2 bikes. A sport bike for me, and possibly a cruiser for me and the wife. The VFR split the difference, but it wasn't good at either. Come up here some time and we'll take them out. You can ride them both. Tim
You might wanna get a lil taller before you ride it, based on the pictures. But congrats!
Great bike, I have had a 97 for 7 years now.
I love the look of those older Ducs. Very nice bike!![]()
