It DOES need to be insured in MA. Like Luvdog said, it doesn't cost much, only like 5 bucks a month or somethin. You just add it to your existing auto insurance, the vehicle you'll be towing it with.

And yes, you also pay excise, but it's cheap, too.

i just drove by a nice 4x8 trailor for sale- looking for 400 bucks

registration costs about 20 bucks for the year and insurance gets tacked onto your car insurance so it cost nothing (or in my case you drive to the wrong insurance agent and realize you're at the place that insures your bike not your car - then proceed to convince the agent that you can tow a 4x8 trailor with a Yamaha R6! Trailor on bike insurance)

I've thought about buying a trailer, but U-Haul rents open trailers for $15-$20 a day, unlimited mileage, so it's hard to justify dealing with the storage, registration, insurance, etc, if I'm only going to use it a few times a year.

definitely get enclosed unless you have an endless supply of garage space. I got mine for 11 hundy last month and having all the track stuff in there makes track mornings a piece of cake.

Not to hijack the thread, but what size trailer do you recommend to fit 5 or 6 bikes "comfortably"?

Good point, but don't forget about the time it takes to load & unload the trailer...

I dunno bout everyone else, but i try & have my trailer packed up a day or two before I go to the track & very rarely do I wanna deal with unloading it when I get home from a full day or weekend of riding.

So if it were me, I wouldn't wanna just rent it for a day... I'd want it for two or even three days, just for one day of actual use.
