What sort of riding do you do? Track? Street? Agressive? Slow (like me)?
Also, do you want new, or used?
If you're buying new, the 05 636 has a slipper clutch, removing the only major advantage the 6rr had over it's big brother.
I vote 636 in lime green![]()
no track just street ---- semi agressive to slow.
Prefer new or barely used in stock condition without all the fenderectomies and exhaustectomies performed.

what he said. if it was me i'd go naked liter bike. but that is me.
also there is a dealer in NH with a 2003!!!! leftover 600rr wants $7300.00 I think it is a bit much for a 2003!
0 miles and full warranty.

Hmmm "reduced expansion" brake hoses, or 36cc of extra displacement. Oh man, that's a tough choice. This is gonna require a CBAOriginally posted by bigred875

I had a 1996 Honda VFR750 for a few years, and loved it.
I've heard the new 800's with Vtec are pretty sweet, but they seem to be pretty spendy.
Maybe a Yamaha FZ6?![]()
no on the fz6 too 80s'ish looking

next question. do you have back or neck problem?
for me i wanna trysomething different. i already rode Kawi so i would get honda. for you would be opposite.
try the 636. it's really 700.![]()
"fuckit!"
If I was looking for something for moderate street riding, go for something comfortable, a sport crusier. Something like the SV, VFR or Duc. All those models should have left overs and sweet deals.
like skierx said i think an vfr or sv is what you might be lookin for. after getting off my vfr and sitting on a 600 i felt like i was on a torcher rack. i had an fz1 and wish i still had it. r1 power you can ride all day.
Voted something different, these 600s are not that different and not much slower than the 929 probably?
V-twin, VFR, Triumph with a triple, etc.. Triumph especially, they've done a lot with their lineup lately and it seems like they demand a look. Same thing with BMW, lots of revisions there as well.
Ben thanks for your suggestions... but all of those bikes are prettey pricey. I am looking to downsize mostly because I want a newer bike and a lower price as you say most of the 600's now are close to a 9.
As I said I have about $6 cash and can buy something a little more but not twice that.

Ah sorry about that. I don't think a used VFR is at all attractive, and neither are the BMWs. They both have too high resale IMO.
But the Triumphs are easier to get a deal/steal on if any of them float your boat.
If money is the concern motard is probably a sweet deal, you'd probably end up with left over $$. Only question is if range and/or touring ability is a priority.
If I were in the market (when am I not?), I'd opt for the 636 Kwacker because it's the best platform to meet the needs of high performance street riding. If I didn't already have the 10, I'd be on a platinum 6R. The 2005 ZX-6R has all the good stuff, and a great motor.
I'll also add, while there's not a lot of ultimate performance difference between a 600 and literbike on the street, there IS a tremendous difference in they way they handle/feel.
While the 929 was a good bike, it was more like an oversized 600 than a current literbike. These latest 1000cc beasts are completely nuts by comparison.
As was mentioned, if you want something different than your 929, you may want to look at something besides a 600SS.
A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. - John Stuart Mill
For the needs you have described, I'd think about the Triumph Daytona 650. Its a bit bigger and more comfortable than the similar Jap bikes in its class, its got more power with a great powerband for the street - and 3 of them are not parked at every gas station. I think it looks great.
The Daytona 650 is a superb-looking bike and a great buy. A Daytona 600 leftover would be appealing and possibly a steal.
To be honest none of these are really the bike for the job you describe, they are far too aggressive in terms of tune, geometry, etc. But if you want something in that class then fair enough.
Otherwise, in the nakeds category I hear that the Z1000 is a bargain buy at the moment and I am sure it is tremendous fun.
nah on the nakeds category too much shit to clean.

I spose what you want next will depend on why you chopped the Fireblade, presumably you were looking for a change.
something newer than 4 years old and in that price category is how I cam up with the choices... an no nakeds, no hardleys, no buells. Honestly I did not give Triumph consideration because the closest dealer is a billion friggin miles away.
As far as riding position my 9 was comfortable for me.

Well, Providing you do actually want a modern middleweight supersport, I guess you cannot go wrong with any of the Japanese 600s, it all boils down to preference.
They all go, stop, and turn faster than God so just decide which one you like, choose a color, and leave change for a steering damper : )
then 2 pick a new 1![]()
