    I'd say so.

I'll take one of the bikes from the Street Triple Race Series

And what are we basing this incredible insight on?

The suspension on the Speed triple is fully adjustable and it has far better brakes, as does the daytona 675. The street triple is not adjustable and the brakes are not as good

Except the Street Triple R has the suspension and brakes from the Daytona

The suspension is adjustable on the ST3R, and has the same brakes as the Daytona. Couple that with being less top-heavy, about 40lbs lighter, with only a bit less torque..and there is your answer.

No, but plenty of people over at triumphrat.net and triumph675.net have..and teh general concensus is that the Speed is better suited for road use with the occasional track day, while the ST3R is better suited for a nimble track day bike. I am not here to argue with you, JMHO, so GTFOMB.

Yep Did 3 trackday sessions and 400 street miles on A Speed triple and found it was awesome. Have ridden the street triple and it felt nice But the motor is nowhere near the 1050.

Your post just sounded like ad copy,

I believe a speed triple ran in my heats all day one track day. Must be the street version as the lights were not bug eye like those pics. I was impressed with the preformance as he was passing me!! lol and he rode it to work in Boston. If there was a local dealer I would look at buying one. Had a triumhp classic back in the day.

Did not mean for it to sound like that - now I know someone who thinks otherwise from first-hand experience.

I appreciate all the comments. A Street/Speed Triple is on the short list for the next bike come next year. I want to try something different from the Desmo twin!

I'd say a 25-30 ft-lb difference is a pretty significant torque advantage. My butt-dyno pretty much confirmed that.

Re: Triumph Triples: Speed vs. Street

I owned a 06 Speed for about 3 years. It was an awesome bike. One of my fellow riders always wanted to trade his bike (07 gsxr750) for mine for the day. It's unique looking, sounding, and a great performing street machine. I personally didn't like it all that much on the track. Maybe since it was my street bike, I was a little more nervous about pushing it on the track. Either way, I'd buy another one in a heart beat!!!

That's a thought too. Mine would be pulling double duty.

I'd also look at a Speed Four. They are supposed to be pretty good trackbikes too...

Re: Triumph Triples: Speed vs. Street

My only experience with triples is my 675 and wow is all I can say. I never thought I would buy a non-Jap anything but I lucked upon this thing and it's been simply amazing. I will say that it spent some time sitting due to a loose pin on the harness but don't let that scare you. The handling is razor sharp and the motor . And the motor.

Oh yea, the motor is awesome.

    Motor.
