Ive been toying with getting a truck, mainly to tote the bikes around, and particularly for a dirty toy in the future.
My bikes are 80 and 88 inches. Realistically what size bed would I need to carry em around? Can I drop the gate and leave it open when its in there?
Problem is I really need a close to full size backseat....
Any creative solutions?

I always carry the bike with the tailgate down. if you get a full size truck, the GMC is the only one that will close the tailgate with a bike in it (unless you buy the 8 foot bed). The other option is to get a "tail-gate" (google-it, it's interesting).
Have you thought about the Chevy Avalanche? That will carry a bike and it's a real SUV also. Worth thinking about?
Have you thought about a Used Dodge Ram with 104k on it for $15k? I know where you can get one LOL
derek
I have a Ford Ranger with a 6-foot bed... never have any trouble moving the KTM or the Superhawk, ramp, stands, gear, etc. I'd prefer an 8 footer, but no big deal.
I can put either bike in diagonally and close the gate easily. I actually prefer it this way. It gives very little room for movement.
I love my Honda Ridgeline.
I like as short a bed as possible, since 99 per cent of the time it is empty.
Seats 5 adults comfortable and can haul two bikes.
I have a 2005 Ford F-250 with a 6 foot bed, and my Sprint used to fit in the back with the tailgate closed. The motard fits in there easily with an extra foot or so between the back tire and the tailgate.Originally posted by Degsy

My Taco with a 6ft bed has been good to me for the past 6 years. It also slices, dices, cuts and chops..........but wait, there's more...........(too much late night TV). I've actually had three bikes in the bed, at the same time. One of them was a DS80, but anyway.........![]()

my old chevy 1500 and current dodge 1500 both had 6 foot beds and I can fit the 600RR's or the 929 in straight and close the bed. As long as you don't put in a bed liner or your chain isn't very stretched out.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
you should be fine with a 6 foot bed. I have a ready ram as a ram and bed extender, it is the best thing I have bought. I can put all my stuff in the bed with the bike and still have the tail gate down.

My taco hauls my Rex and my racebike without an issue. Unless your buddy forgets to strap down one side of your racebike. Then your nice bike begins to look like your racebike. Stupid buddy.Originally posted by odduc

I had been thinking about a titan. the bed length is 67 inches, which is about 5.5 feet. I know thery make a bed extender for it.
I would rather a small truck, like a taco or frontier but the back seats are just too small for me (read: my family). I cannot even process the idea of a full size truck with a long bed.
I remember someone here had a titan, just cannot remember who...

not sure you'd get either of these trucks, but just to throw the #'s out there...
my fzr600 will fit in the back of the '91 ranger xlt long bed (7'), with the tailgate up...
it will also fit in the back of a '01 F-150 supercrew, but to contain it from the rear you need the bed extender...
what do you think of the newer quadcab tacoma? it's a smaller pu, good capacity for seating, and still built well.
I'm happy with my Avalanche... and I've had my bikes in the back.
I'm not sure 2 bikes would fit at the same time, but I've never tried it.

My 04 GMC bed is 6' 6" . I can close the gate with a sportbike but not with a dirtbike. I've had 3 bikes in the back at one time, 2 motards and a R6. I took the tailgate off because I was towing aslo (last years Deals Gap trip) but even leaving the tailgate down is never an issue if you don't tow.
It's an extra cab and is classified as a 6 passenger (6 seatbelts) but realistically it seats four comfortably.
It seem the only time I drive it is on road trips, Daytona 2006 road trip last year![]()

..............i have had my 2002 tundra for 5 years....and its been a great truck...its a v6...regular cab....8ft bed.....no problems whatsoever.....altho i wish i had the extended cab...maybe next time..
I have an 02 Silverado 1500 6'6 bed and I had the EX and the 636 in it last night. I had to let some air out of the EX's rear tire but the tail gate closes with a little pushing.

I don't think I will get another one ... had more than my share
of brake problems with it.
I am looking at the Honda Ridgeline now. The payments really is
what holding me back from making the purchase.
Im throwing the 636 in the back of my GMC 1/2 ton 6ft bed for the first time in about 30 min, I'll snap some pics...![]()
I'm the Titan owner of which you look, Manny. What you wanna know that you can't get from TT?.
My 06 CC seats 6 adults comfortably. The rear seat is the biggest in class except for the Dodge Crew-Maxx thingy. Get a bit over 18 hwy and will beat a Hemi Ram stock for stock. Plus I got it for 21K out the door. I test drove every 06 CC truck and this was the most fun to drive, amazing real world horsepower, and best price for the options I wanted. The 04 bugs have been all but eradicated and it's really a great truck.
Cheers, Lee S.

You call that mini-bike a motard. Shame on you go to your room.
