    some tweaks to the SXV

finally had some spare time to continue messing with the SXV over the weekend removed more decals, got the ProTapers and Cycra guards installed, SME sliders F&R, license plate mount is finished, chopped the exhaust tips and half-way finished my tail light/signal bracket.

the exhaust still needs to be chopped, i'm planning to keep it stock but alter the exits so there are just two slash-cut tips visible. keeping it that way until break-in is fully done then will go with a SilMoto stainless pipe and Tuneboy mapping.

the tail light and bracket is looking pretty decent, the signals will mount right in the open space behind the light. its a DRC EDGE-2 for the DRZ but flipped and chopped up. fits pretty damn good. everything back there will be painted black once mock-up is done. soooo much cleaner than that massive hemorrhoid they hang out back in stock form

praying the wifey snags some black Excel hoops for me bday this month

How do you NOT end up wheelying all day long on that thing? I could do it, that bike just looks like too much fun, I would be in court.

i'm no good at wheelies but i suspect that may change after this season and yeah, the license is in danger for sure, this thing is a BEAST.

the ONLY two rides ive been out on it, i got the stink-eye, arms thrown up and mumbling mouths. two separate occasions. no clue if it was about riding on shitty roads or because the thing looks totally illegal.

If I wasn't so afraid of the reliability based on the earlier SXVs... I'd be all over one of them, damn good looking machine... Keep us informed on how that one treats you.

    Looking good Clinton
Any plans to powdercoat the frame and swinger black as well? Saw one on the AF1 forum that looked pretty sick.
Be sure to post up some pictures of the tail light when it's done, still undecided on what to do with mine.
I'm thinking of adding a red front fender and maybe the new style headlight to mine, just to be different

thanks, man. i'd love to powdercoat this shit out of it but its just going to get scratched up anyway. prob just snag some guards at one point, the CF ones are nice but so $$$. theres one or two black bikes on AF1 that are nuts. KingKarl and one other dude. ah, the blackness soothes the soul.

yeah, the tail light is almost done. i want to integrate the stock black plastic guard that goes underneath so the subframe isnt visible and the wires are better protected. then i have two L brackets to mount that the signals bolt to. should be pretty tidy.

did you check out the Enduro kit? comes with the different styled headlight and small tail light. i almost went that route. real slick setup. red front fender looks good, they make a 'race' style one thats a little shorter too.

haha, i almost threw that icon in earlier. its how i feel when i'm around it

the step seat is the "VDB" model available through Aprilia, named after Thierry van den Bosch, sumo racer. search for some vids on YouTube for that guy, fucker COOKS. speaking of... ive really been enjoying watching sumo races from europe. so hard to find on the net but the races are excellent. wish it wasnt dying out in the states this years schedule looks weak. (i'm talking AMA/DMG/XTRM/whatever)

I've seen the Enduro kit on AF1. It "looks" the same as the OEM parts from the 09 SXV/RXV. I like the looks a lot but it's big bucks.
I haven't seen the shorter front fenders yet? Do they still work with the headlight? Most of the cool looking front fenders for these bikes seem to be just for bikes with number plates

exactly $$$ caused me to look elsewhere first. nice that you can just plug it in bolt it on though.

Corsa Italiana in the UK has the short race fender.

i think i read you can use it with the stock headlight and support pieces. just have to drill holes for the grommet and post.
