    Tires

I got a question about when I should change my tires. I've put almost 5,000 miles on my bike in 3 months, I don't do burnouts or any of that shit, I do like to ride it hard sometimes. Generally how many miles can be put on a tire "Safely" before you should change them?? Do I wait for the tread to be showing a little bit, or is there a round about mileage to be at to change them out. I'm still learning as I go so be easy guys. thanks

    Re: Tires

    how much tred is there?
are you at the wear bars?
post a photo, and we can give you a good idea. it really depends on the compound. i have had some last 8000 and some last 2000 stickier tires go away faster thean harder ones..

    Re: Tires

There should be wear bars on the inside of the tread and the edge of the sidewall... When those are flush with the rest of the tire you're ready for a new set.

Its all up to the owner I would say...I have had treads showing and still rode some might not, I have "not happy" but???? More if the tread is down to the wear bars swap them out.

If its a gixxer 1k I would swap out the tires right away B-stones suck big time. I like Pilot Powers esp on my gixxer. You will notice a big diff in how quick it dips and holds the road.

    Re: Tires

I wait until the cords are practically showing UNLESS I have a long ride coming up. I never leave for a 500 mile ride with with a 200 mile tire.

Also, most people spend way more on tires than then need to. The reality is that for most of us who still have 3 brain cells we can rub together the type of riding we do on the street...even most of the so called 'agressive' guys...doesn't begin to test the edges of the performance envelope. I ride pretty hard and am constantly looking for the best mileage out of the 'SPort Touring' category. I've tried almost all of em and the road performance has been excellent. Wear has been a fairly consistant 5k. I am running the Dunlop Road Smarts now and they are awesome...and looks like I'll get 6k on 'em...

badass looking bike bro, I eventually want to do somethin like that to mine. I'm not sure on OEM or aftermarket, I am in the process of getting a very good paying job so I'll be able to save up some money to do all the work I wanna do to my bike for next season, So to answer your ? I'm willing to shell out enough for good "quality" rims. I'd rather pay more for quality rather than cheap shit. I'm just trying to find some sites, or possibly a store to stop by and take a peek. Thanks bud
