Got it cleaned up a bit, rebuilt and synced carbs, ready to roll.

Crap. I really gotta get me one of those some day. My rd350 is fun but those 500's must be down right scary.
I don't know. My brother had the Japanese version, with the aluminum frame. He shipped it to me from Germany, in many boxes. It was bone stock, and really not anything like the 350's I had ridden (with pipes, and other mods). The stock RZV was really quite tame. I was disappointed. This one has pipes, at least, so I suspect that it quite different. The RZV had a little red light that would come on when the bike exceeded the Japanese national speed limit. Weird.
Yeah, the Jap spec Rzv was very restricted to satisfy regs, they put out around 64 HP. The Euro spec rz/rd 500 stock would do about 30% more, around 84 HP. With pipes, a bit of port work and jetting, 95-105 is not too hard to get. 120 HP is not too out of line on a well built engine.
