After looking at what happened over the week end mine was a minor crash.
Riding along in traffic and everything came to a quick stop in front of me. Hit the front and back break to stop quickly and I was stopping but must have hit an oil spot in the road because in a flash the bike was out from under me. I was supprised at how far you slide on a slick road doing less than 25MPH. I also had enough distance in front of me because I stopped sliding before reaching the car that was stopped there.
The bike needs all new left side plastic but nothing on the frame was touched so it is going to be an easy fix (I do have full coverage on the bike). The bike had the no cut frame sliders on it when I bought it and they were junk. They may have helped a little at first but they broke off.
I do want to thank all here that push having good gear because when I first signed up here I don't have the proper gear, but today I did. And for Sheppo who helped me with some of my choices the Textile pants held up well and I think they are still usable. And the new helmet has a scratch down the side.
Me -- I am a little sore now where my shoulder hit the ground but it could have been a lot worse.I also have a scrape on my left arm where the armor from the inside jacket doug in. I would rather have the scrape than road rash. The downside is now I have to drive my truck up to the track on Wednesday to take pictures at track day. I hope they don't expect me to work because I took today off.
On the positive side I still have my R6 so I can transfer the plate while I get the R1 fixed.
Glad you are ok Bill and good to hear you had your kit on, hooray for good gear!
ps are you going to nhms on wed?
I had the bike up and off the street before the Police arrived -- they took a couple of picture and asked if I would be OK. I have a friend with a towing company who was already on his way to pick up the bike. It now in the garage and I look like I could ride it as is excpet the cluch lever broke off.
I will see you all on Wednesday.
Glad the pants held up. How bad is the helmet??
Sounds like exactly what happened to me on Wensday. Glad your okay man. If your shoulder hurts you should get it checked out. Mine was mildly sore but got worse and worse. Now I'm wearing a sling. Ugh.
Again, glad your okay man!
Ah, gotcha. Plus one for the sling crew! What's with the crap on the roads the past few weeks? My crash happened at an intersection I go through at least twice a day and have never ever had a problem at. Grabbed the brakes that day just lightly and down I went, no warning, no chance to save it, just right down. Such a downer. But better than going down in a corner or on the highway.
Heal up quick man!
glad you're alright man. always good to hear someone is saved by making the right choice in wearing gear.
Its getting cooler out now and the ground can be a bit slippery int he mornings or even later if cars haven't driven on it much or if its in the shade the first part of the day. and also now that its time for the leaves to fall off watch out for wet leaves also. This is the time of year to really relax and enjoy the scenery as it gets good.
OK folks...those of us with more the 3 functional brain cells to rub together believe that the right gear makes a huge difference between a minor event and a big bad deal.
We don't need any more 'tested by NESR' reports this year!!!
Glad you're OK and thanks for adding an additional positive 'gear' report!
See ya Weds!

i did the same thing this morning on route 2, traffic stopped suddenly and i grabbed all the brakes i could without locking up the front on the wet asphalt. i slowed down a lot but hit an enclosed landscaping trailer the truck in front of me was towing in front of me hard enough to smash the front fender and upper fairing, then me and the bike landed on our sides and slid a bit. i rode the bike away and then home, i was wearing full gear and didnt hurt myself at all and only tore up the jacket sleeve. a cop happened by asked if everything was ok and continued up to an accident with a car fire up the road. guy i hit asked if i was ok and said have a nice day so i split without getting in trouble with the cops or my insurance co. for an unlucky event i got pretty lucky!
i dont have much money to buy new plastics and they are hard to find used so i think my 92 zx11 be getting streetfightered.
nine times out of ten its an electric razor, but...every once in a while...its a dildo. of course its company policy never to imply ownership in the event of a dildo, we have to use the indefinite article "a" dildo ...and not..."your"...dildo...
First off I'm glad you're ok and the bikes not totalled. Sounds like that could have a lot worse. Secondly, is it just me or is the condition of the roads going too shit. I work construction and if we spill anything we get the riot act. Again glad you're ok.

holy shit!! rash of crashes. glad to hear every one is ok.... and glad to hear that all our gear nazis ranting and ravings haven't been in vain.
now lets get those bikes fixed and/or fightered up over the winter.
Glad you're ok. Sorry about the bike. I know a dealer selling Harris clutch sliders for $19 if you're interested. (I know you roasted the left side but it could happen again on the right!)
Great...now I'ma Skeered!
I dont WANNA be a Peaf Leaper just yet
But yeah, them roads just wont have the grip they had just a couple weeks ago. I kept that in mind as I took my daily romp earlier.
Heal up Man!
SPEED SAFELY!
Glad your ok man. Gear saved my ass a few weeks back. check out R&G frame sliders, they are cuts but they survived my high side too.
