Where's the best place for me to order or go pick up some replacement parts for my vortex rearsets? Gotta have them a week from friday the latest. Also how much faith should I have in JB weld? Broke the part where my rear brake lever attaches to the master. I will replace it if I can get the parts in time, but otherwise I'll need to JB weld and run it. I'm planning on doing it and having it as a spare regardless. Should I have to worry?
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
I dont know how nervous you should be while racing, but my brother in law JB welded the rearset on his ZX-7, and it was still good when he sold it a year later.![]()
i wouldn't trust that JB weld crap.
are the rearsets aluminum or steel?
if steel, i can help ya.![]()

Al-oooo-may-nium my friend. Steel race parts would be a little bit heavy. Probably not very competative in the market.

I wouldn't trust the JB weld, fix it right. A radiator shop should be able to help you out with the aluminum welding. Hope this helps.

Actually, I believe the stuff we used on my bro-in-law's bike was some sort of hardening expoxy....thats not the same thing as JB weld is it?

The JB Weld will not work on alloy parts. I should know, I tried it when I was in a pinch during a race weekend. You can check at the track with Street and Competition. They will usually have rearsets for sale and they may break out the parts you need, if you ask nice.

broke the little nub off the brake lever that connects it to the master cylinder, and I guess I bent the peg enough that I can't seperate it from the brake lever and it's really stubborn turning so I'm not sure how well it would return. I also bent the bolt that holds the peg so I want to get a new one and a spare. Just put in a call, they're calling me back in a half hour, hopefully with some good news.Originally posted by SVRACER01

My bike had the exact same problem when I first bought it. I ended up taking the rear set off and was able to unscrew the peg/lever from the rearset bracket. I put the peg in a bench vice and could just barely move the brake lever. I spent a half hour moving the lever back and forth. The friction eventually acted to grind away the components. They work perfect now. Cost - $0.Originally posted by hessogood
