I just bought this waterproof USB socket for my bike and I have to say it's pretty awesome. Thought I'd post it up for anyone who hasen't seen one. It has a self reseting trip fuse built in as well.
the rubber cap for the end of the USB cable comes with this silicone tape to keep it totally water proof, I'm going to toss a tube of heat shrink over it too just to make sure it stays on there and totally dry.
I got it at http://burnsmoto.com/ $24 for the port - $10 for the rubber gasket for your USB cable. $5 at Autozone for the SAE connector I'm using to connect it to my bike for a quick connect and disconnect
I made the Cell phone mount from the belt clip for my cell phone case and the base is made out of fiberglass. the small 9in USB to microUSB cable came from my BlueAnt bluetooth headset. haven't seen any of those anywhere though I haven't looked very hard since I had one already

Interesting...how much was it and where did you purchase it? I am looking to possibly rig something up on my bike so that I can attach my phone when I want to use the GPS or watch movies on long rides...
Wirelessly posted

I have had this for more than 2 years now. A bit expensive, but it is well made!

what phone mount is that? I've been trying to decide on the best solution now that I have a steering damper mounted to the triple tree.

I made the Cell phone mount from the belt clip for my cell phone case and the base is made out of fiberglass.
It's just double side taped right to my fairing, but the good high test stuff. I switched phones this winter so I kind of re-used the old fiberglass base and put the new belt clip on and repainted it. (after a little bondo work and some sanding of course.)

I needed a micro-USB male plug to charge my Scala Rider G4. I did not bother with the full-size USB female port though. I just hard-wired a micro-USB cord to a 5 volt regulator (with a chunk of aluminum as a heat sink) and then wired that in between a pair of SAE connectors. The assembly is installed in-line between the battery and my Heattroller. Cost me about 3 bucks and some scrap material. Not as clean as your install though, that looks nice.
I'll make you one for $30 if you supply the part that your phone connects to, i'll give it to you primed and ready to paint.
or i'll paint and clear it like mine for the extra cost of the paint on top of the $30
you so crafty steve.

I saw it, i knew it was a joke. i use the GPS and to stream Pandora to my Bluetooth reciever I put on my helmet so I can have wireless tunes. now I need to get some condutive thread and put a few stitches on my gloves so i can use the thing with out having to take the gloves off.
only reason I even added the charger is because both those two programs drain the battery on my cell really bad.
