well...never sprung for a suit or the knee armor. I can safely say that Banana Republic khakis do not hold up real well. My knee is still not mo' betta and its been over a week since my 20mph lowside (damn crosswalk paint on a cold morning!!!!). I ordered some Icon Arc Mesh pants the other day. My knees were not meant to hit pavement and granite curbs.
Wow, I thought I already replyed to this thread.
I wear a 2 piece suit with the same protection as my 1 piece with the same boots, gloves and helmet that I wear on the track. I don't like to ride without my stuff on at all. I feel weird without it.
I did feel pretty bulletproof with my full suit on for my 8 hour ride to NJ and 8 hours back, but DAMN, it hurt my knees. I think it was due to having the knee pucks on and being in 1 position for a long time, but it was all i could think about after several hours. I think at the track and normal street riding you are shifting around a lot and it isnt a problem.
The other day I was on lunch break and a girl from work wanted a ride, I didnt have my helmet, but like a punk, I gave her a ride anyway. I felt so naked without a helmet on. I dont know how people do it regularly. I would be so nervous I would be the biggest nancy on the bike.

Update: Sometimes I shoot over to work in a shorts and a tshirt when it's real hot. It's wicked close (like a mile) and all low speed. Whatever.

Suf Daddy.
When I commuted to work everyday in SF 25 miles each way I wore a red aerostich 1-piece I found on ebay. Man that thing was fugly...
When I got better, started going to the track, and carrying about my appearance I bought a two-piece suit of leathers. I rarely wear the pants, except when I'll be riding in the twisties or track.
I've got fieldsheer overpants for regular riding.
You ain't kidding. A friend of mine has one. He loves it, but it is pretty damn ugly.red aerostich 1-piece I found on ebay. Man that thing was fugly
I wear Helmet Jacket Jeans and Shoes.. Sometimes gloves if it is chilly..

When I first started riding I wore helmet, leather armored jacket, jeans, gloves and boots on rides. Then one day the leader of a group ride I was on said to me in a very casual way, "You know, you'll never get undressed faster in front of a group of guys than if you lowside wearing jeans."
With that image in mind, I was in the market for leather pants the next day. . . I like to pick my moments to get nekkid.
This letter to MCN was pretty convincing, too ("debride"?! ugh!!):

When the VT Crew rides, as a group or solo, most of us wear 1 or 2 piece suits, or full textile gear...I wear a 1 piece, and will always wear leather when going for a rip, it saves your bacon big time, and its comfortatble, protective, and builds confidence, along with looking uber-racer-like and cool!!!!
changed my mind about being an ass, I was gonna say not nice things, so I edited the post...ps gsxr1000babe, props for wearing a helmet in NH, but get some gloves to protect those hands...

I could give a shit what I look like while riding. Gloves, helmet and boots are a given. I usually wear a leather jacket and leather pants on long or spirited rides -- just a jacket and kevlar jeans on anything shorter or especially slow. I was a squid once upon a time, but I tracked that guy down and killed him. Now I'm basically Doc...

i'd recomend you add actual riding boots to that list instead of just shoes.
i usually wear the whole nine yards when out for a ride nowadays. sometimes i sub jeans for leather pants...but most of my riding is done in my trusty, battered and abused Vanson 2-piece.... people keep asking me if i was just hit by a truck???
...do i push it on the street...nope, but you never know when you are going to get wacked by some moron in a cage, or your front tire is going to mysteriosly deflate during some highspeed highway fun.
i've crashed in leathers and i've crashed in jeans, sneakers and a t-shirt (dumb 17 year old). i'd recomend the leathers. also wear boots. it's a pain in the balls wandering around a dark field with a concusion trying to find where your chuck taylors landed.
I dress for the occasion & comfort, If I'm on my way to the gym, I am just wearing sweats & sneakers & gloves , most of my day to day riding, I'm off the bike, more than on, jeans, FirstGear jacket, helmet, gloves
when riding all day, I wear my first gear ht jacket & pants ,for the comfort,
would I wear leather on teh street, doubtful

I wear a full suit, except knee pucks (unless I get too lazy to take them off), full helmet, boots, gloves, every time I ride. You never know. Stuff happens Real quick!
Full leathers if I'm going on any kind of spirited ride... Otherwise leather or mesh jacket, helmet, gloves, boots, and jeans. I still don't feel safe in just jeans though...
