still commuting here. 20 miles each way. most of it on 495 if i'm in a hurry
I ride my fjr1300 to work 25 miles each way. I was looking around for the longest time for wings u know air deflectors for these hot days. Then the idea hit- just spread my legs wide and move my feet out on the pegs. Free ac no modification necessary. The ninja 650 with the bottom muffler will burn the soles off your boots in the heat. The FJR only roasts your oysters if you sit to close in this weather. So fffen hot yesterday the air blowing over the shield felt like it was burning a hole in my face :hredder:
I admit to riding no helmet on the fjr. Anyone have a ac helmet?

I take the cage if I know it's going to rain but any other day I take the bike. It's ~35 miles one way if I take the most direct route but since I'm on the bike I'm not always following the quickest path. Commuting is about getting from one place to another. Riding is more about the journey between the start and end so it's a completely different mind set. I wish it wasn't this humid, but I'd still rather ride a route on the bike than just get from point A to B in my cage.
Im riding - ok I was off yesterday - but I rode today. Wearing textile jacket and Icon leg guards under a shirt and tie (suit coat's in the backpack). As long as there's no thunderstorms I'm good. Used to do the RC too - thats why I had black PC mousepads cut and glued to the frame - yeah that's a hot bike.
not this week...i wish i had a short commute like some of you guys...i slab it either 90 miles or 110 miles round trip depending on which office i need to go to and both rides include traffic so its usually not that enjoyable
rode yesterday... rode today too.
The best advice I’ve ever been given is to not forget where you came from.
I am still riding to work, its not that bad.
My ride is about 20min each way, depending on trafic.
Commuting in on the bike for me has always been a pain in the ass. My commute is nothing but stop and go traffic for 45 mins. My options are to take the Mass Pike and pay a toll to sit in traffic, or take backroads with a traffic light every 30-60 seconds of my commute (no lie).
I hate to say it but I'd rather sit comfortably in my nice cold AC'd car sippin on an iced coffee on my way into work.
I took the bike to work today, But unfortunately it is still on the back of the truck.
Does this still count? I made Vrooom Vrooom noises on the way here and was looking through the corners.
I have barely ridden at all this summer. The weather has been too disgusting.
I had a car that i sold because i always rode my bike to work. Depending on what job i am working it's either a 5 minutes commute, or an hour commute. All in all though i live in Vermont so i usually don't have to worry that much about trafic, stop lights, and tolls!Still i'll ride in any weather!
Now if i could only figure out what I'm doing this winter....... Can-Am Spider with studded tires......![]()

What night is Burlington BIKE NIGHT?!?!?!?!?!
TUESDAY...!!!!!!!!!!
Riding season is short enough as it is in VT...
Not a lot of days with no snow or rain, so unless it's pouring out when I get up to go to work... I'll be on the bike, doesn't matter the % chance of rain during the day... I can always figure something out for lunch, and I don't care if I get wet going home...

Been riding everyday, I have a 15 min ride but I usually take the back roads and make it a half hour ride.
the AC in my car is broke so I've only been driving the car when it is rainy all day. Light rain hasn't been bothering me though.

It's been WAY too hot to feel like riding, IMO and besides I NEVER use either bike for commuting to work for 2 very good reasons:
1) Only live 2 miles from employer
2) I work at RI's state psych hospital... residents often go out and walk around freely...
... like on park-like grounds and in parking areas!![]()

Definitely right there with ya, only add that I have to wear a suit (not really good riding gear even with a jacket helmet and boots, which means I have to bring all those with me), along with my purse and laptop... So, long story short, I don't ride my bike to work too often...![]()

I'll ride to work any chance I can, but my cut off point is not appearing at woking looking and smelling like a wet sock.
