What's wrong with this picture? There's a FEMALE trying to install a crash cage on her motorcycle and this thread has gone 3 hours untouched!?! Maybe this isn't the NESR I use to know.

Just wondering... are you actually going to stunt it or are you just nervous about dropping it? My only advice when cutting plastic is to start in reverse until you are through the paint to minimize chipping?

How many people are wishing they were skilled at cutting plastics right now?

Play-doh technique should work. Just might need to be a bit more creative than with sliders.

    Re: Crash Cage Installation/Help

I'm not an expert but I have the tools and have cut a couple sets of fairings for sliders with decent results. But I have a lot of work to do on my bikes and not much time right now. If you can wait a week or two and are interested in learning how to do it, I'll offer the tools and my lift. I'll show you how to cut the panels and help as needed, if you'll do most of the work (taking the fairings on and off, etc). You get to tell everyone you did it yourself, and it's totally free. PM if interested.

I might be able to give you a hand. I'm pretty good at cutting plastics cleanly and correctly. You got anywhere we can work on it? I've got the tools and a garage might you be willing to head out my way? I'm not far from Worcester

I have a garage...again I don't want to touch them cause I don't want to mess them up, cause I"ll be really pissed. that's why i'm looking for someone that is good at it & won't mess it up. not that i"m saying you will. well, I can't head your way since if I ride the bike, then I have a prob. with taking the stuff there with me. lol

Masking tape over the area to be removed, with the fairings removed (or at least out of the way) get a laser level and point it in the center of where ever the frame slider is going to mount, remount the fairings, mark where the laser is pointing on the masking tape, get a drill with a hole saw and go to town. Remove masking tape, install frame sliders. Done.

Actually it is that easy. That entire job is 45 minutes tops.

EDIT: Just forget that each side is $600 worth of stickers and plastic and you'll be fine.

What cage, on what bike? Best is to use a couple self leveling lasers I've found. It is time consuming to do it right.

If you need a pro...then take it to a shop and pay for a pro.

Anyone that does this for you after hearing how you feel should they make a mistake is nuts.
