214 miles logged today. Had a great time! Christmas Eve and still riding! how awesome is that!
Get this, when I got home, the "lost" jacket that UPS had supposedlt delivered on Monday was delivered TODAY, on a Sunday! And, it fits like a glove.
How great of a day is that???
Thanks, Kurt, for being a sport about leading. I always feel like I'm not riding at a speed that everyone would like. Love that 105 trip. Glad everyone got to have the "lead" through the Blue Hills.
I only snapped a few pics. Here they are:

Thanks again Kurt for leading. I felt that it was a good pace and a good route. What better way to spend a Xmas eve afternoon than with some great guys, a good ride, and no problems.![]()
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and who knows maybe we'll still be riding into the new year.
What a great ride again! I really had a blast going on that road in blue hills over and over againThat part of the road was new to me. I usually take the chikatawbut rd (or whatever it's called) that runs across the blue hills, but never tried that part before.
Thanks Kurt for leading and thanks Chuck for taking pics!
Everyone have a great holiday! And as Alex said, maybe we will be riding into a new year![]()

I didn't look to see how many miles I did today but I'm guessing I'm around the 200 mark. I've put on about 3500 since I bought it new in September. Between my new bike and my old I bet I put on about 7k+ for the season so far.
I have a chatterbox and they are not as good as advertised.Originally posted by 04ZRX
I don't know if anybody has looked into buying a "Chatterbox" but on a group ride, & if we all had them it sure would be great.
Good for pointing out hazards in the road, or if someone got left behind, or ran out of gas/broke down.
I almost bought two of them when my Son & I were riding together, but he totaled his bike before I had a chance to order them.
Last time I priced them (5 mile range) they were like around $265.00 each. Maybe if there is enough people interested, we could get a discount on a group buy?
Anyone here think that it would be worth the cost?
I found a seller online with free shipping for $249.99 and for about $30.00 more you can buy the cellphone hookup & a battery eliminator.
I am going to E-Mail Deb who is a vendor here & see if she can do better than that with a group buy.
Here is a much cheaper alternative that I learned from Liononaleash.
Go to Radio Shack or WallyWorld and pickup those new radios that work on the same bandwidth as the Chatterbox. (FMRX up to a mile and GMRX for longer but you need a license) Install a PTT (push to talk) microphone in your helmet.
I find the chatter box very bulky, the headset that they sell will only fit comfortably in a HJC helmet, forget about Shoei's and Arai's.
If someone wants to play with one before they buy one, I would be more than willing to lend it out.
This technology is very very crude and WAY to friggen expensive for what it is. Wait a year or two and I am sure some nice stuff will be coming down the road.
Like I said, you want to borrow it to see what it is like, I will use my Motorola radios and we can still communicate.
two radios ... two PTT mikes ... under a hundred bucks
That folks is a usable and very effective solution.
This is one case where spending the extra money will NOT
be worth it.
check out this thread it has some info on the PTT mics and frm/gms radiosOriginally posted by Currently

Maybe Thrusday if youre up for it and the roads are cleaned off by the rain. Its supposed to be close to 50.Originally posted by 04ZRX
Well I found a FRS/GMRX made by Motorola with a 8 mile range with two in the package plus NiMH batteries & a desk charger. $39.00 Then I bought two ear bud/microphone/PTT for the VOX hands free for $14.95 each.
They do work great!
So, next ride I have with someone in the group, I will bring them both along so we can really test them out.
Currently, Thanks for the info, this is much cheaper than using a Chatterbox setup.
Which model did you get? I've found several that range in price from $17 to $60Originally posted by 04ZRX

It also says that all require an FCC license. what's with that??
Which Talkabout model??Originally posted by 04ZRX
Thierry,
I got the Motorola Talkabout & it is supposed to be good for 8 miles. If that is so we would never be able to get left behind again..![]()
Motorola's site lists quite a few. It also says they require an FCC license to operate.
Sounds like a great plan. My wife wanted to get some anyway to talk why we rode 2-up.
I was looking at the T6500R with rechargable NiMH batteries.
I found them for $49.99 at J&R music world, which would have them to me in 2 days, max.
I'll most likely have them by the next time we ride.
Thanks for the tip.
It sounds like a much more viable solution that the over $200 for the Chatterbox setup.
Sometimes, VOX isn't the greatest thing, especially if you have a loud bike, or have a lot of wind noise in your helmet.
Here's a pretty cool alternative I found on eBay. It has 2 ear pieces and the mouthpiece. The PTT button mounts on the handlebars:

Ya I dont even think I megaphone would be heard over my bike. I still remember Kurts face the first time I pulled up even after I warned him my bike is loud.Originally posted by 97BladeRider
