"On your right.. on the bike.. spandex."
"Yeeeeah.. that works."
That and "Dude, do you have any idea where the hell we are?!"
I used an SMH-5. Not a -10. Seems they are all compatible. Liked it so much I bought one this winter.
Why didn't we stop for sliders? I've never had White Castle.
Speaking of food, tell Chris to lay off the Mickey-D's.![]()
Also, we should think about what sort of places we want to hit for the week.
Obvious loops:
Rt.28/Dragon/Fontana Dam
Rt.28/Highlands/SC/Georgia
Devils Triangle
Foothills Parkway/441/Pigeon Forge/SMNF
Cherohola Skyway
Devils Triangle
Anyone remember the route that Ox and Lucy did that took them 18 hours?

NO BREAKFAST BURRITOS from McDonalds.....
Then again, he's not riding down with me, so whatever
The White Castle was a discovery I made just a couple weeks ago. I never knew it was there. Less than 1/4 mile off the highway. Open 24 hours. Be a good stop once we cross the Tapanzee, probably be close to midnight by then.

Planning is for horticulturalists. We fly by the seat of our pants!
Don't worry Nate, my barge-er, I mean Vstrom, holds enough fuel to do the mommy bird baby bird feeding method more than once.

nine times out of ten its an electric razor, but...every once in a while...its a dildo. of course its company policy never to imply ownership in the event of a dildo, we have to use the indefinite article "a" dildo ...and not..."your"...dildo...
I have no idea if this is a good deal or not.. but I just saw this: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=573145
Seems worth a try. Tunes while riding.. I mean.. think about it.![]()
I've heard good things about the guys from rocketmoto, but most of the reviews I've heard from their customers have come from people who've purchased Traxxion suspensions from them. On my GL board the general consensus is a bit like "you'll never pay more for a decent product" for Traxxion and most Traxxion service places.
As I know you know I've moved from my scala headsets to Sena. Are they perfect? No. They do have some advantages, but head to head scala vs. Sena is about a wash for me so far... My Sena headsets haven't failed yet. Their warranty isn't up either...
Nope. I already have my headset. I found that thread last night while bored and figured I'd repost here. Felt relevant.
As for Scala vs Sena. I too made the switch. I had a Scala device on the side of my helmet and swapped it for a Sena I'd borrowed from jasnmar so I could talk to Clayton's SMH-10 on the 'gap trip last fall. After living with the device for a week and then going back to my Scala, I was hooked. Infinitely easier to use. In Scala's defense, the G4 had more features. But they were features I never used. Meanwhile the features I do use were far better implemented on the SMH-5. Far better. Last year I met up with stonky for a ride to work one AM. It took us several miles before the intercoms worked. Scala claims you are supposed to be able to easy pair in moments. It didn't work out that way for us. On a straight I started mashing buttons and suddenly it worked. To this day I don't know why or how it suddenly worked. Meanwhile the Senas paired beautifully and just fuggin' worked.
Also the audio control (AVRCP) features just work way better with my android phone. I can play/pause/skip music far easier. I mean it just works. Oh.. and you can switch between intercom and tunes way easier (just tap the control dial). With the Scala it was such a pain in the ass to correctly switch sources that I'd just leave it in intercom or music depending on the ride. When we were in NC I was switching between BS'ing with Clayton and rocking out at will. It just worked.
Sena has the added advantage of being cheaper that Scala, last I checked.
Clayton's buddy bought him into the right system. I will never buy another product by Scala again.
Speaking of which, I gotta update my firmware.

Just a heads up, RE: Sena SMH-10. I got mine last year for ~$114 IIRC. A friend and I split a dual pack. Also, for those unaware, apparently the new firmware allows universal pairing. The downside of the universal pairing is you can only talk to that one other intercom and can't have a group going, but at least you can pair up with other brands.

Oh.. cool. Looks to be available for most of their lineup, including the -5. Linky.

I think you should ride it.
Ooooooooooo... that was that road?! Okay. I got all confused for a minute. I thought we rode 28 north of there. Yeah, now I remember. Disregard..
That was a cool road except for the fubar pavement.

I don't think we went here. Area called "Blood Mountain" in Georgia. Seems worthy...
To Do's for me on this trip are getting done.
Got my new helmet.
Got a camera mount for the RAM mount.
Got a bluetooth transmitter for the radar detector to be able to hear it on the Sena.
New Pilot Road 4 Trails arrive today for the Wee.
Still need to do a valve adjustment and rotor swap on the SV.
Still need to anchor down the boards on the trailer.
Other than that, I'm good to go!
You all want to have a meet up ride at some point before we go? Couple of the rookies have expressed interest in doing so to make sure all bases are covered on what to bring and logistics.
I'd say wait a couple weeks until it's warm enough to do a ride, then we can meet up for a meal on the bikes.
