A local insight for your ride:

The east/west road between rt5 and rt30 has sand that collects on some of the turns.
The last time I rode it I noticed two corners with enough to concern most.
On the section between the covered bridge and Dummerston Center.

Also:
The covered bridge seemed to have lots of "grit" on it's traveled surface. Not enough to create traction issues but enough to notice it in the headlight beam as the car ahead kicks it up.
