Leaving very early (5:30 am or so) from Boston. Leaving early does wonders - less traffic. Looking at a 600 mile ride. This is a no ticket/no accident ride. Hitting all the usual stuff. (trade your hang over/late night on Friday for a great day on Saturday with no traffic.)
This all depends on weather (and on me getting my tires changed).

Kevin, I'm planning on leaving on Friday with a buddy of mine for VT, upstate NY, including the T***** rd. We gonna do it in 2, maybe 3 days, depending on how far we get into Adirondack mountains. Maybe we should hook up somwhere in VT or NY?

two sweet rides in a row I'm gonna miss.
Good thing I'll have the carshow to keep me happy.
And what's wrong with Tsing Tao?

I'd be all over this because you put on a great ride last time, but I think I'll be junk on Saturday. I may post or call if I'm soberish.

mmmmmmmmmm beer
thanks Mike and Ned for the beer.
So, back to the ride.
Looks like I'm rocking an SV650.![]()
I got my tire changed but balancing is a little problem. We don't have the "cone" for the trimph wheel (it is a single sided swing arm/no internal bearings on the rim).
I'm excited to check out a different bike.

Wow, what a ride.
I left at 5:45 and for the first three hours there was no one on the roads, it was like an end of the world horror movie where you are the last person on earth. Fucking awesome!!
A few sprinkles the first hour, but after that sunny and low 70s. Perfect MC weather....literally a perfect day for a long ride with gear on.
I made it to route 17 by 11:15! I ran it a few time and met Jake and his girlfriend for lunch. I didn't realize it until later, but I passed Ned and his crew on 17. Apparently rt 17 took another bike...the rider is okay from what I understand.
Now I ended up riding an SV650 race bike...it is literally a race bike with lights and a plate hung on the bike. Not the most comfortable thing to ride for 16 hours, however it is great for tearing up VT. Only problem is that bike has no spedo, no odometer, no gas gauge....no gauges at all!
The bike was great for tearing up the usual suspects. It was so easy to hang way off the bike. Had a great time cruising with Jake and his girl.
From NY/VT I cuised some back roads and then jumped back on the highway (by myself). Traffic was very light. However, it was really hard to try to guess my speed. I remember Eric Wood talking about how bad humans are at judgeing speed. No shit, it is hard!
Soon enough I passed a speed trap and the damn Statie pulled out after I passed. He was following me and there were no cars in front of me. I was trying to do the speed limit, but I couldn't tell if I was doing 35 or 85. Without another car, and on an open road (89) in NH, it is impossible to guess your speed. I slowed down, then I thought I'm going too slow and sped up, then I thought I'm going to fast and slowed down...repeat....the cop must have thought I was crazy. Thankfully, the police took the next exit after a few miles. That sucked. Speedometers are necessary equipment.
So, 600+ miles - great day...I loved the SV and I want one.
BTW - Duey thanks for letting me borrow the tank bag, it worked great.

you probably were doing 35-85 and he didn't want anything to do with you! He knew you were nuts after running the plate and seeing how far away from home you were.
