Hey guys,
So my BMW S1000RR is here and ready to be picked up. I'm off on Wednesday, April 14th and that's when I'm planning on making the ride up...weather permitting of course. The dealer is outside of Albany, NY and it looks like there were some good route suggestions in the other thread I had going on. I'll make another post in this thread with the possible route to take up. I have to go to the Credit Union in East Hartford in the morning (unless I can get there Tuesday while I'm at work). They open at 0900, so right after that I'm thinking is when we'll head up. Shouldn't be later than 0930. We can meet at the Credit Union on Pitkin Street in East Hartford, or anywhere along the way. We'll ride up, pick up the new bike...and then ride home.
Weather looks to be sunny and in the 50's as of now...always subject to change.
I'm thinking it'll be a most of the day event consisting of probably 250-300 miles total on the day. The address of the dealership is:
Max BMW
845 Hoosick Road
Brunswick, NY
I'm thinking of heading north on 91 to 20. 20 to 219. 219 to 44. 44 to 7. From 7 the dealer said he has some roads to ride that are decent. I just have to call him Tuesday when they open to get the rest of the directions.
This will be an easy paced ride since I don't need anything to happen on the way up...and I certainly don't want to destroy the new bike on the way back. Not to mention it'll be brand new and needs to be broken in and the tires run in.
Just looking for a couple of people to make it not such a tedious boring ride up and back by myself. Figured I'd throw it out there and see if anyone's interested.
Shane
Are you trading the old bike for the new? (riding the old bike up and the new one back?)

Okay, I'm in.
I just checked your route and notice you're not taking Rt. 20 in Westfield, but Granby, so I'll meet you at Airport Phillips 66 gas station, 150 Rainbow Rd. (Rt. 20) in East Granby, Ct.
I'll be there for 10am unless you think it will take you longer than half an hour to get there from Hartford due to morning traffic?
Let me know...maybe pm me your cell phone, too.

Hey bro, Just saw your message. Glad you're in. I changed the route to 20 actually. 20 to 4 to 7 to the dealership. Says it's 115 miles from Manchester Honda. I have to stop in there and grab my new boots at 0900 and then I'll be leaving after that. That timing for ten should be just about right. maybe even a little bit before.
My cell is 860.539.7464. Just call or text a confirmation. Looking forward to it.
Anyone else interested can meet at 0900 at Manchester Honda or 1000 at the Phillips station to make the trip. 115 miles or so out in about 3 hours according to mapquest. so probably be back around 4-5. The bike shouldn't take long to pick up and we'll be back on the road. Minus a stop to grab a bite to eat somewhere quick and fuel stops.

Hey Shane, nice meeting you and congrats on the new ride. Too bad nobody else was able to make it. It turned out to be a beautiful day, Rt. 20 was fun on the way there and we hit up Rt. 2 over to 116 on the way home. All topped off with a Statey commending us for wearing gear at the gas station at the end of the ride.
Here's some pics...a couple before and after shots...went out on a red 1098 S and came back on a black S1000RR.

Soooo???? How is it?!

It's an amazing bike to ride. Came home with 160 miles on the odometer. A great ride out. Like I said in the other thread, I have to make a 1/2" thick block for the top of the brake pedal to make it usable. The way it is now, it's way too low to set your corner speed unless you're a contortionist. It's a huge difference riding the I4 compared to the v-twin. It's quiet and smooth. And once you get the revs going, it's insanely fast. Now I just have to put 600 miles on it so that the rev limiter that's installed can come off. I don't think that'll take too long. I'm off next week on Monday and Thursday...so guess what I'll be doing? Yup...riding if anyone wants to go for a ride.
Thanks for posting the pics Sam and thanks again for going. Had a good ride.
