GOOD CALL BY A COUPLE OF YOU!!!
MARY-ANNES DOESN'T OPEN TIL 7:00 on SUNDAY!!! SO...HOPE ALL WHO PLAN TO ATTEND READ THIS AND THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP!!!
PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO ANY OF YOUR FRIENDS WHO MIGHT NOT READ THIS BEFORE THEY LEAVE!!!
(I had checked their website when I first posted this and didn't read far enough so see that Sunday was different!)
OK! Just to be sure everyone has a chance to see this..
ANY LAST MINUTE UPDATES, CANCELLATIONS, ETC will be posted HERE. Check before you leave!
Weather is looking pretty good right now. Early morning sloggers may have to deal with fog or rain but the day looks to improve over time!
Please read through this so that we all share the same vision, (a vision not shared is a hallucination!), about how this ride will go!
DATE: Sunday, August 26th
MEET TIME: 7:00am for breakfast - 8:00 for riders meeting and departure
LOCATION - MaryAnnes in Derry, NH MaryAnn's Diner - Restaurant
SUCCESS - Spirited pace, no crashes, no tickets, no lost riders, all smiles and friends at the end
WEATHER - I will post last minute updates to my home page at Home. Check there late Saturday night or before leaving Sunday. I have no rain-date in mind so will likely go even if there is a chance of encountering some rain. But won't go if we aren't likely to have mostly good weather.
REGISTER - Please register at http://www.grouprider.com/rides.php?...de&rideid=1591 This is the list I am going by. So far we have 21 confirmed and 14 tentitive. By my calculus that should wind up being about 26 or so!!!
RIDE RULES - (yeah rules...) Gear - Helmet, gloves, boots, jacket, and at least heavy jeans. (You might want to bring a bathing suit in case we stop somewhere for a dip.)
o I am leading this ride. Don't pass me unless you plan to leave the group.
o Ride your own ride - period
o Stay at 80% of your ability based on YOU, weather, road conditions, your
bike, etc. If the rider in front uses all their reserve and you asspack 'em
cus you weren't giving yourself enough leeway it's YOUR bad.
o It is the passing rider's responsibility to complete a pass safely.
o No one gets left behind. I stop at all major intersections and any change
of route and get a count and look for a signal from the Sweep.
o Watch for the rider BEHIND you. If they aren't there slow down and see if
they catch up. If not, stop. Eventually I will realize no one is behind me
and circle back to see what's what!
o If you want to go faster, engage in stunting, or pass me - no
problem. But you are on your own and no longer part of this group! Try and let me know and strike out on your own. No hard
feelings! Have fun! But do try and let me know you'e splitting off so I
stop trying to count you. Worst case, at some point leave me a message
on my cell 617.285.7154
o Ride staggered at slower speeds. Leave 3+ seconds or better at the
more spirited speeds.
o No passing on the right
o Limit passing on double yellow to only when necessary
o Keep speeds under a ton
o The 'Pace' is the guide I keep in my head
o Turn off your freekin blinker after you've completed the turn!
ROUTE -The current route on Group Rider is broken into 3 pieces due to technical limitations of your leader...me! EVANS NOTCH has re-openend so route calls for Hurricane Mountain east to 113 North through Evans Notch. We will pick up Subs at Subway in North Conway and stop rfor lunch at overlook in Evans Notch. Then north to North Road west then on to Mt. Washington. If the weather is good we can ride to the summit. If not continue north to Rt. 2 west. Then 115S to Rt. 3 South. At Franconia Notch we'll see how folks feel. Some may decide to slab 93 home. I may continue the lead to North Woodstock and 112/118 west and south to Canaan and Rt. 4. From there I will head home....
I know that lots of people have lots of suggestions about routes and, while I appreciate it I am not clever enough to figure out how to make everyone happy. So, I suggest we try and follow this plan and remain flexible. As long as I am successful at keeping everyone together changes in route should be no big deal!
I don't mean to piss anyone off or alienate anyone. But if my sincere desire to lead a safe ride at a spirited pace within the limits described above don't fit with your view of a group ride then DONT COME. Again, no hard feelings. I know my style isn't for everyone and I certainly won't be offended.

So, too many updates and cutting and pasting! EVANS NOTCH IS SUPPOSED TO BE REOPENED so the plan is to stop in North Conway at the Subway and grab some subs to go. We will then have lunch at the overlook in Evans Notch. From there, depending on weather, we will find our way to Mt. Washington and ride to the summit or decide on a couple of other options.
Stay flexible...stay together...it will all work out!

Suppossed to Pour all day in Mass, Damn im so torn... dont know what to do.
It's 9:30 pm Saturday night.
Weather still looks like well less than 50% chance of rain...and it decreases as we head north.
My guess is sloggers will encounter some fog in the am, that the post breakfast to mid afternoon part of the day should be OK, and that we all may hit rain on the way home.
As of now the ride is still on. I will make a last post tomorrow morning at 5:00am.

My bike's dirty and needs a wash anyway...
i'm pumped for tomorro, and going to bed so I can roll my lazy ass out that early
5:05 - From everything I can see it looks like we should get through most of the day without getting wet. Greatest chance of hitting a shower or T-Storm will be late in the day on our way hom

so... I had a fantastic day, and thanks to everyone who tossed me some advice.
Mary-ann's was great, and Subway was funny. (he hates his life)
I hope whoever it was that went down comes back soon and everything works out as well as it can.
Also, how much trouble did the cop give the few of you?
Thanks for a great day, and I hope everone made it home safely.
Dude I had a blast today an aboslute blast. I bagged out after franconia notch cuz when I saw the trading post (nature severely called) and I didnt want to slow everyone up. Just an amazing ride, 589miles between sat and sunday and my ass dont hurt that bad.
Where you on the Gixxer?
A few of us saw you peel off at the post and we weren't sure if you had a mechanical problem and if we should stop to see. Good thing that went as planned out in your head! At least you missed the po-po excitement
Oh and my Corbin seat did wonders. my back and ass feel fantastic. I went into the ride with a bum wrist/knee and those are receiving ice treatment right now.
Awesome ride today Dave and thanks Bergs for riding sweep. Good route, good people and good fun.
Unfortunately my favorite highlights probably didn't get photos (me grabbin' some young ass and nearly getting asspacked by Nate, the girl that went over the handlebars at lunch and of course the squid tattoo you gave yourself at the LEO stop). Thanks and please keep me on your list for future rides.
Details, what happened? I am reading the hints, now I want the story.
Bruce
I was on the blue and white gixxer, I told dave and berg I was going to possibly peel off after franconia. I was going to go the whole way, Every time we rode a little hard I felt fine, but I hit that exit and was like.... ohhhhhhh man...!
Oh and that was my first group ride like that. So cheese I know you were behind me for a while hope I didnt suck too much.
This ride was awesome! 526 Miles from my house, start to finish. The Sub Nazi will be remembered forever (I took his picture!) Waiting at the base of Mnt. Washington was even fun until I learned that one of us went down. My day changed from that point on. That is the worst, especially when your 150 miles from home. When I saw the cop in my rear view, I pulled over. When he kept going, I turned the *uck around
and called it quits. I slabbed back on 93. I actually just walked in the door 10 minutes ago. Hope all went well with the ones who did get stopped.
Thank agian Dave...this ride ruled!
(Pete...thanks for riding sweep for our group)
If we're here to help others.....what are others here for?
Busa boy where did you guys get pulled over? I got pulled over right when I got back on 93 after franconia notch when I decided to break off and slab home.
If we're here to help others.....what are others here for?
Whoever crashed - was it a tow truck ride or a ambulance ride? I hope they are O.K.![]()
