Excellent point and a very good question. Paul, you did exactly the right thing. Glad you were there...again!
Here is a post that maybe our admin might poach and make a sticky. I review this every once in a while...

Paul,
Looks to me like you guys did everything right almost instinctively. Everyone was very cool-headed, and that had a calming influence on me which, in retrospect, I truly appreciate.
After lying there a while doing a sort of pain check, I felt like the only thing really wrong was the leg. With that, I was able to just deal with the pain and not have to worry about anything worse.
As Terry (NHBUSA) noted, I became more concerned about taking the ride offline and the condition of the Sprint. I'm glad to hear I didn't slow the ride down too much.
The Sprint will eventually get fixed and I may be able to ride in 6 weeks or so if it's ready by then.
You got to see me at my best ;-), with that little ADVride on Hurricane and then this. Jeez, I gotta learn how to ride a damn motorcycle!
Thanks again,
John
Glad to have been there Dave...always a pleasure riding around with you at 55 mph.Originally Posted by DucDave

Oh yeah! I've read that prolly 625 times...I'd say it's pratically comitted to memory by now.
I agree that should be copied and, IMO, stickied ABOVE the "If you ride with us" sticky.
Looks like you guys had a great time...sorry to hear someone crashed but glad he is OK!

I'm a certified lifeguard, which is basically one step below EMT. I wish I had been on scene, but it sounds like there was no need.
Firefighter/EMT-B here.... pretty basic on something like that as the first person on scene.... we have our ABC's (Airway/Breathing/Circulation) then stabilize safely... bike accidents are different b/c you really have no idea whats under that helmet... like an internal wound, its hidden... just dont let the coppas take your helmet off

John,
Sorry i didn't get to talk to you that much, I was a little out of it from the night before and wasn't my jolly old self that day. Just wanted to say heal up and we'll see soon Bud.
Dave, I don't know what burned you more...the burn itself or the burn Joe tossed your way after. "You Squidly Didly".![]()
