Headed up for a half day on saturday with my sister, probably waterville since I gotta drop my boots off in plymouth to be ground. Was supposed to go with a friend sunday but she's not feeling well and not sure if she can make it. Anybody gonna be up there? I'd still like to ski sunday, looks like a nice weekend for it.
i'm hittin up Mt. Snow on Sunday (tomorrow)![]()

Nice, how was it? Conditions were a bit icy on saturday, but I imagine all that snow we got did them good, hmm?Originally posted by HBerry

THey only got 4 inches but it rocked. Most of the mountain was closed for the first few hours but after the wind died down a little it was perfect everywhere for a few hours and then got a little icy. It was freakin cold out all day! Overall it was an awesome day

I was up at Loon on Sunday. Windy and cold, btwn 0 and 10 degrees. I checked into North Peak around 9:30 and didn't come down until after 1. There were zero lines so it was non-stop skiing. The new quad they have is so much faster than the old triple chair.
Whatever snow that came down (about 4 inches) was blown into the woods by noon. The terrain was pretty mixed between icey hardpack and fresh snow, so it wasn't the most predictable.
I'll be back up there this wknd for Sat & Sun, providing my toe injury heals up OKI need to get a set of footbeds made for my boots so badly.

I will either be up at loon or waterville on day this weekend depending on conditions. Lets hope they get a little snow this week. I need to get me a set of heaters for my boots.

Adam, you might check out Feet First over in plymouth, they're right off exit 26 on the way to waterville, and come highly recommended to me.Originally posted by ancosta

A bit pricey compared to what you'd pay at a generic ski shop but the two primary guys there, Paul and Brian, really seem to know what they're talking about when it comes to boots. My langes are up there right now for some grinding inside the toebox, I'll let you know how pleased I am with the work when I get the boots back.
Thanks for the tip...what kind of price do they charge for footbeds? My specific problem is my toes smashing into the front of the boot. Generally happens when skiing hard and when I get in the back seat. Toes curl upwards and then smash into boot on landing/mogul impact. Causes much pain and toenail loss. The boots fit otherwise fine except for this problem. Also I'd like to get better ski control through more precise boot fit.
Also - I am looking to get my Atomics tuned up by a skilled ski tuner. In an ideal world I'd have all the time needed to learn how to do a high-end tuning, but I don't have the time.
I brought them to Rodger's in N. Woodstock for the $15 wax n' tune special and they came out terrible. (Did I mention it was only $15 bucks?) Not only a low grade wax but didn't fill in any of the scratches in the wax (not base). Edges were razor sharp from the factory, now my skis are slipping especially mid-ski. I am not a hardcore racer but have skiied hard and long enough know to realize my ski's behavior has changed for the worse post tuning.
I'd like to get someone who can set the skis up reasonably well so I can do my own waxing/mini-tune during the season. Any suggestions?

Not sure what an orthotic would run there, my guess would be around $150 but not sure. My shell work I'm having done ran me $80, which is higher than it would have been at the local ski shop but I trust these guys better than the 15 year old with a dremel. And they say they stand behind their work, we'll see when I pick the boots up this weekend.
#'s 603-536-3338 worth giving them a call anyway they indulged me on the phone for quite a while asking about if I bought the right boot before I brought my boots in there so I figure they earned their keep.
Sounds like your boot is too big or the liner is packed out if your toes are getting smashed, dunno if a footbed will help too much there but they'd be able to tell you, I know a lot of places can replace a packed liner and/or fill in the shell if the boot is big in spots too, so there's that option as well.
Thanks for the advice. I ended up calling them about 2 min after I read your post on the place and booked an appt for this Friday.
I'll let you know what I think of them likewise!
If you are up for some runs at Waterville or Loon, I'll be up there Sat and Sun. My plan is to have the boots tweaked (if needed) on Friday, and then try them on Saturday.

Excellent, I will definitely be up there at least saturday to pick up my boots, maybe sunday as well. Trying to get some boston friends to go, but their lazy asses would rather stay home and whine about the snowOriginally posted by ancosta

HBerry you gonna be up there this weekend too then? I'll probably be up at the boot place around 9 or 10 depending on the weather, then heading from there to either loon or waterville...
Have you tried these "bootglove" things? It's a neoprene cover that attaches over the top of your boot. I was skeptical about it's effectiveness, but I've been told they actually work quite well. Just picked up a pair (along with a camelback, woohoo), cost me 35 shipped, gonna try them this weekend. If they work, sure beats spending 150 on a set of boot heaters...Originally posted by HBerry

I will be up there one day this weekend, I need to get some use out of my threedom pass. Let me know how well those boot cover/heater things work and I'll look into them.Originally posted by Honclfibr

Well my boots are ready so I'll be heading up to pick them up around 9 tomorrow, then probably up to loon to see how the work came out. I'll have my cell, if either of y'all is up there call 603-548-3184 if you want to catch a few runs.
We're heading up to one of em on sunday.
