Hockey - Sunday Nights, Saugus MA

I skate with the hockey academy in Saugus on Sunday nights, and we're looking to expand our league. If anyone is interested in signing up, the cost is $430 for 16 games, and the new season starts this Sunday. (You need full equipment and a full face helmet) This is an adult instructional league with bench coaching, the skill level ranges from beginners to intermediate. are you playing at Hockeytown? I used to play there a lot when i lived in beverly. that was a long time ago and i am up in NH now. just started playing again after a year off with back issues, apparently caused by a couple of torn labrums in my hips. Good luck with the recruiting, a world without hockey is not a world i would want to live in!

Yup, I am! How long ago were you playing there? I've been skating with the Hockey Academy for 5 years now, so I might have seen you. Yikes, lots of hip injuries!

probably been 6 or 7 years now. played alot back then, but not for hockey academy down there. i did for a while play in tynsboro at skate 3 and in salem with hockey academy. not a bad outfit, pretty easy to deal with. I'm a tender (which actually is where my screen name comes from) so the jerseys they gave out never fit me. i probably still have like 10 unused jerseys! i probably ought to donate them to something. anyhow, here is the jersey i typically wear now. is from a montreal tournament team we put together a couple years ago. I figured you all would enjoy it.

Mondo there is no contact in beginner level hockey unless it is you hitting the ice when no one is around you

funny when I lived in salem ma I use to skate the entire north shore from Umass boston up to salem NH ... I'd play three games a night in different rinks (malden, then hockeytown, then lawrence). then go to Hockeytown on Saturdays for 3 hours of pick up ice. man I miss those days .... now it is just one game per week and 2 hours on fridays out in central mass

Usually there is no contact. I had some butthole that couldn't stop himself after a break away crash my net last Sunday, now both my knees are killing me. I'm going to start body checking people that come near my net from now on. Thanks for the good luck wishes!

So we had our first game yesterday, but we're still looking for a few more skaters. Here's the video my Dad took of our game so you can get an idea of the skill level. (Ignore my crappy goal tending, I was skating for the first time with new goalie pads that were WAY too big!)

i used to see alot of concussions with the concrete 3" behind the dasher on the far wall
