Beet's Bash

Anyone who knew Beet would surely agree that he'd like to know we're rejoicing & celebrating his life rather than memorializing it. With that said, and with the blessing of his wife (Peggy - 'FuFu'), Big Shirl and I are tossing around the idea of having a celebration for Beet sometime the end of August / beginning of September...

We were hoping to do this in conjunction with the August LRRS weekend (the 20th), but we'll be busy for a better part of that weekend. We're thinking either August 27th or September 3rd. We realize some of you may have plans for either weekend, but we need to work around what's convenient for us too...

We haven't figured out too many particulars yet, but we wanted to get those dates out there at the very least. We'll keep you posted as we hash out the details on our end...

Okay...I already said it's NOT gonna be the 20th. And I hate to sound blunt, but we're not looking for input on which weekend. It's gotta work for us if we're doing this. We're leaning more towards the 27th though...

As has been the case for the last 10 years or so, our house is under constant reno's & there's always SOMETHING going on. Our space - as usual - is a bit limited. But there's plenty of tent space & there's a motel about 5 miles up the road at the Alton traffic circle. We're also gonna be contacting a coupla of our immediate neighbors to see if they're houses are rented out that weekend. If not, maybe some of ya can go in on a weekend rental or some shit. None the less, NO ONE will drink & drive/ride from our house the night of the actual gig...

We're looking into the possibilities of hiring a local (unplugged) band to play for a few hours too...

Both houses at this point are available. If anyone's interested in renting either/or, BE SURE to tell 'em you're friends with Jay & Cheryl, we told you to call, and you'd be renting to hang with us for the weekend...

Again though, we have room for tents & whatnot. Maybe a small camper or two. The one spare room is already spoken for as is the couch. We may be able to get some more inside, but it won't be remotely private. As in, we just may do funky things to you once you pass out...

We're talking to yet another neighbor about the possibility of using his field to park & camp in if we need it. It's just across the street from us (some'll remember steeling corn from it years ago) and there'll be a path to & from...

Maybe we oughta start getting a count on peeps that can make it for August 27th...

Looks like the date (August 27th) is definitely clear for us. Let's start getting a solid idea of who's coming...

Also looking for input on munchies. We'll do the requisite burgers & dogs-type shit. We were thinking a 'bring a dish' route may be a bit much for those travelling? Ideas/suggestions that won't break the bank?

Thanks Spence! But we'd MUCH rather see any & all donations go to the education fund that's been set up for Beet's kids...

Jay I can have a few people stay at my lake place as well as its 8 minutes up the road, I may have my daughter so I would need a quite select few. I think it would be a great Idea If there was a gifting basket to at the party so we can contribute to the education fund.

Thanks for putting this on Jay just goes to show what a class act you are. I'm sure Beet is looking down smiling! I can can even drag out the Yuccka!
