Well, I haven't made it up to Donny's in a while, but I did ride the Bayley-Hazen with Mark, David and Tommy a couple of weeks ago. In short, it was a really good ride including a rather interesting trip over the mountain-crossing hero section between Eden and Lowell. Things were not exactly big-bike friendly, though, and Mark's XR did try to escape down the side of the mountain on a particularly fun climb covered with large, loose rocks (fortunately, Mark was able to convince it that he was in charge).
The ride up from there was challenging but not super-gnarly, and then we started down the descent that Tommy didn't remember being there when he rode it. Tip: when riding a big bike, beware asking someone on a small bike what the trail ahead is like. There were some challenging spots; nothing was horrible, but line choice mattered, and I set a sucker line for Mark—I rode right into the middle of a mud puddle that was a bit deeper and stickier than expected. I managed to ride out of it, but not before bouncing my helmet off my instrument panel, and I may have made it a little deeper, because it did manage to grab ahold of Mark's bike. I didn't see it, but I've been assured it was quite the sight to see.
I did get a couple of photos of the aftermath—my helmet:
Mark's bike:
A crappy pic of the mud hole (not particularly deep, but coming downhill from the right was probably a 12-16" drop into the mud, and the downhill exit is to the left, climbing out of the mud):
Oh, and the class four road exits the woods to a driveway but then exits across a field, which was a bit muddy:
(Mark was smart. He went down the driveway.)
In other news, I rode my bike to work in snow flurries this morning.
"Big bike" in this case includes 350lb 650cc dual sports, not just ADV bikes. I'm guessing the ride would have been considerably easier on a low-geared, 300lb, better-suspended, street-legal dirt bike like Tommy's DR-Z.
Yeah, thanks for that... By the time I got there the hole had filled in more so was difficult to see, and my front wheel dropped into it and stopped dead. And I got catapulted over the handlebars. Tommy was behind me and tells me that he got a good view of the underside of the XR's skidplate. That was fun.
Here's another pic of the XR after the hero section.

Well, since I'm the only one using this thread anymore, I have an announcement to make: Maybe, just Maybe, I'll be at bike night this coming Tuesday. Headed to New England hopefully tomorrow night during the lull in the storm...wish me luck. If all works out I am going to try and make it in the rental rig to Donny's. I'll text some folks too in case they miss this frequented thread.

Hey guys is this thread still active??
Not really.
Damn that's too bad is there another form or thread that has a bike night or not really a thing in VT? hahaha
I am pretty sure bike night still happens at Donny's Pizza in Winooski. One of the regulars may chime in soon.
Roger that I will hang out and see if anyone swings by to let me know thanks a lot!
@logleggett, we still meet at Donny's pizza every Tuesday. Not sure if you're local or just looking for a group chat. I'll let the other guys know you're on here. Don't know if anyone has even looked at this in weeks.
Yeah I am right in Burlington so literally a stone throw away just shoot me a DM with info on a group chat or page or whatever thanks a lot @Huffer
Yea, we meet every Tuesday. Hope to see you there sometime soon.
Search FaceBook for Burlington Bike Night. I can't link it on my phone but can try later on my computer.
Roger that thanks for checking up on this form it didn't seem too active so I thought I was shit outta luck lol how many people usually end up showing up if you can guess? any sport bikes? lol
With the season slowly coming to an end attendance has been anywhere from a handful to mid teens. There's a core group of die hards that come basically every week. Most of us even meet in the winter just to hang out and talk about how much we wish we could bike.
It's a pretty diverse group in terms of sport bikes, super motos, dirt bikes, adventure bikes, etc. We like bikes, all bikes.
Hey log, introduce yourself in the new member intro thread (or here) so we know what you ride. Pictures are good as well!

Roger that yeah I am thinking of putting my bike away this weekend but might keep it on for that meet up haha. I would gladly go down in the winter tho just to hang out. Also I shall do that right away @carsick
