This one hits a little close to home.
Alan Jefferys, who was one of Maria's MSF instructors and a motorcyclist through-and-through, from enthusiasm for vintage racing to a garage full of machines (in various states of assembly, from rideable to in a box), passed away after crashing on Saturday afternoon. The Vermont State Police have released this info, which is minimal.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, family, and friends.
RIP rider. I think I remember having met him at my BRC, though he was not my instructor. I went by the accident scene twice on Saturday, suspected as much when my son asked why the ambulance was in no hurry.

Very good friend of my dads, super nice guy...RIP
Damn sorry to hear this. I wonder what precipitated the crash; from the report it sounds like no one else was involved, and he just left the road and hit the guardrail. Debris in the road? Or I wonder if he may have suffered a heart attack or something while riding, causing the crash.
My condolences to his friends and family.

Didn't know him. But RIP.
Alan used to stop by our house a few times a year just to shoot the shit and try to get me to become an MSF coach. Always riding a Virago that sounded like it was going to implode when he started it. He was a very cautious rider so I'm sure that he wasn't riding any faster than was safe. RIP Alan.

I ran into Alan every year for the past 20 years of motorcycling; always at some unexpected event, and always in some motorcycling forum. He was a nice guy and it's hard to believe I'll never run into him again. Condolences to his family. Vermont's motorcycling world will miss him!
