OK - So I'm going with the Dunlop N-Tec Slicks and Rains this year - on order as we speak. I had the drop order delayed to avoid the risk of cold cracks on the slicks (some nights up here its crazy cold). In any case, I'm hoping to hit every LRRS weekend - 3 races each. You guys pissin through a set every weekend? Am I looking at slingin the wife on the corner for tires this year? Cheers.
IOM must be crazy expensive unless your sponsored up the wazoo
We all have our odd moments. Be sure to swing by and say hi at round 1.
I haven't really been able to talk myself out of much with this whole racing thing. Having done the track days for two years so far and hanging out in the north garages for the last two seasons as well I have had plenty of people ask me when I was going to start racing. So having a slight bit of peer pressure has made it a good thing I think.
I didn't know slicks limit classes- Damn. The treat version of the NTec is the same compound. I always thought the medcompound slicks last a little longer so I grabbed a pair.

He is in novice.
Classes aren't limited by tire choice until you get to amateur.
So just stay slow as shit for the first 3 weekends or so and you should be just dandy.

In one of the postings, maybe from Graham, that when your in the hot pit/pre grids they are not only looking to see what your number is but also looking to see what tires you have on for that class.
And I thought they were just admiring me and my bike.

Yeah I think so - I completely boned myself just before the straight with a crappy upshift and even skipped the dirt ha ha - live and learn I guess. I think that race was red flagged from a crash in the bowl? Are you racing opening weekend? It looks like I'll be setting up in garage 15 with Kurlon this season.

Page 43 in the 2016 rulebook starts the information about Supersport (19.2 SUPERSPORT). From the rulebook page 45, 19.2.2.8 :"Tires must be DOT approved". As an amatuer you can run Superbike and Grand Prix classes with slicks, but not Super Sport. Tire choice as a novice (DOT / slick) doesn't make a difference in what classes you would be eligible to run.

since he is on an R1, smutty means he will only be unable to race Unlimited SS on his current bike.
