Wow the reality check is more than just the words on the screen. I sought and found a bunch of riders that on one hand want to start a "team / group" thing, but when asked to accept a new support resource / racer / contributing member you suddenly turn "reality" and
What aI am thinking that this was a club racing scene and that it's not about ego.
No worries mate, less headaches this way.
I already have a race team started from hillclimbing, which will now take on the "streets of loudon" on a hawk (even if it's a shitty bike).
Thanks for the advice / warning![]()

Dont get the wrong impression with these guys, they're amazing guys and cool to hang out with. The main problem they're facing is the lack of power in 1A as is. They trip circuits just from tire warmers during the day. Its not that people arent welcome to hang out (least thats how they've acted towards me) but they dont have enough power to go around, and adding more people using less power is putting a strain on them, and their competition. Theres plenty of places to camp around, and Ill be camping elsewhere, but Ill probably be spending a lot of time hanging out in the area.
And as for the Hawk, I think Scotts just trying to give you an idea what to expect. Its not a bike you can just hop on, race, then leave alone till the next weekend, it takes constant upkeep, so hes just giving you an idea of what you're headed for if you were expect a low maintenance bike.
You are taking this the wrong way....
You ARE a part of Hawk nation and with that comes all the help and support we can give.
The problem is pitting together. There is literally no room/ power available in 1a. We blow breakers all the time!
There are some good spots close by... we are gonna have to expand the nation out a bit. Don't sweat the small stuff there is room in the general area that all of NESR pits in, you won't be alone.

Not really... At a high state of tune it takes up keep. Stock it shouldn't be that bad at all.
Scott is just saying don't expect to go out an win on it... much. Novice it can be done, Amatuer... well let's just say it is harder.
Scott just doesn't want people thinking the Hawk is the PERFECT racebike.
It is an underpowered, good handling, underdog. If you accept that fact and are just out to have some fun it won't let you down.

Oh and 1 more thing... about this "Race team" business.
The team I am currently trying to work with is 2 Amatuers and 2 Experts.
Maybe you and the Weasel can form a team?

do your homework. ask around before you question my desire to help out. i spent at least as much time working on other people's racebikes last season as i did my own.
from what I heard you were told the good qualities of the hawk without anyone weighing in about other types of racebikes or giving a complete pros & cons. that seemed wrong. i was going to PM you in detail about it, but forgot (oops, i'm human) so i thought i'd point out when i saw this thread.
see what Doc & Richie said above. i didnt mean you're not welcome. i just want you to understand exactly what you've bought....
anyway. welcome to the nation a day early. there's _lots_ of setup advice to be had for that old girl you'll be racing, but first get some decent brake pads, good DOTs, make sure she's fully safety wired and have fun on that thing!![]()

1990 Honda Hawk NT700 (rebuilt?)
2012 Ducati Streetfighter 848 (retarded fun)
GOT IT!
I have been looking at the hawk for a season or two waiting for the right priced bike to come along. I found a fully race ready and running Hawk for under $1000, sounded good for me and my budget. It has some upgraded suspension parts and a glass rear clip. I haven't given it the white glove yet but it doesn't look like a T3 crash victim.
I have always been an underdog and done quite well at whatever the adventure (hockey, golf, baseball, m/cing, life, work, business ....)
I sat on the SV ...I looked at the KAWI and there doesn't seem to be much good said about them buttttt then again it IS a Kawi.
I'm sure you guys are as friendly all the time, as the time I met you in T1a.
I'm sure you wouldn't turn a cold shoulder to a fellow racer in need. I follow what the space / electrical restrictions are down there.
I'm psyched for the new racing adventure. PEACE

What I was saying is we already have a team of 4... where do we draw the line? 6, 8, 10?
This sponsor money we are working on getting is only gonna go so far.

It's ok, Doc. Just don't forget about the little people now that you have a big beer sponsorship. Maybe throw a few factory seconds our way. Mmm, Number 8.5
