Just watched race 1 and 2 at Barber and was wondering what you guys think of the racing between Eslick and Herrin.

Eslick is riding pretty agressive to say the least. Not sure if its punishable but if I was Herrin I prob wouldn't be happy. A lot of people will say its just racing but if Herrin were riding the same way, someone would be hurt right now.

I agree, Eslick was way too pushy and Josh did an awesome job hanging on.
I thought the announcer was having a coronary....It makes for great racing and fun to watch...trouble is, I have no one to talk about it to the next day at work..too many crunchy granola people who have no clue what racing is all about.![]()
I agree that Eslick was riding a bit over-aggressive. I don't believe that he took Josh out on purpose, but I think he was definitely getting really close on purpose to stand him up and slow him out of the corners. In the interview he said that Josh initiated it, but I think it was the other way around. I Definitely have to watch that race again!!
On another note, did everyone see Alex's air time after the checkered with Cardenas's crew and then at the podium
I hope DMG/AMA does something about Eslick. He intentionally parked it and looked over at Herrin. then later in the race in the same corner he runs it super wide physically pushing Herrin down and off track, really hard for me to believe that wasn't on purpose. I don't care how much you might not like a guy, you don't do that kind of dangerous shit endangering someones life.

I agree with most of the above, but I still can't believe Herrin left the door that wide open for him in that corner every lap. Seemed like a slow learner on that one, unless he was hoping Eslick would be black flagged, or that he could knock him down by leaning on him from the outside?I started yelling at him every lap going into that corner, he never listened....

I know and like Danny. He is a good kid and has a ton of talent.
But, I think it was crap. I think he was intentionally trying to make contact. He might not have meant to knock Josh down, but he didnt try not to either. Each time he made the inside pass in T4, he had no chance of even being close to the line at the apex, he dive bombed Herrin to purposely run him out. Even on Saturdays race he kept running him wide and looking back to see if Herrin made it.
I think some drama is good for the series, the ratings and building interest..... but Eslick was riding "Supercross style" with the block passes (which I also think is lame in SX) . I mean when is the last time u saw a guy go into a 180 degree left hander, braking hard, with his head turned completely to the right watching the rider on his outside?
Eslick played himself outta the championship.
The day you focus on taking another rider out and not winning the championship is the day you should lose your race license. IMHO. I know it will never happen but that was complete bullshit. Made for a much easier win for Cardenas as well....... Way to hand over the season out of spite, dumb-ass. - Jake(not bigblu)
I was pumped to see Eslick silence the people who said he only won last year because of the Buell, but this last race really made me wonder about him. The intentional shit on the track and then the way he talks about Herrin in the post race interviews is pretty sad.
But, the AMA did have some incredible racing this year!
i can say this i dont think it is over,,,,,if they are racing again next year something will carry over

Wow, Eslick sucks. I didn't see the race but this interview told me everything I needed to know about him.
(from 2:25 to about the 5:40 mark then again (as the interview wraps up) from 9:15 on)
Real class act.

It also seems fucked that Seller got banned from an event this season for running into Herrin, which seemed nowhere near the douche behavior displayed by Eslick. Why hasn't the AMA released any kind of ruling or at least a statement on this yet? RRW is pretty quiet about the whole thing as well.
It's a real shame because the AMA had the best racing of any series on SPEED this year (my opinion of course), but this whole situation smells bad...
On a positive note I loved Scott Russell's commentary during the races this season. "You gotta check yourself before you wreck yourself on that deal right thurr." Good shit.
Eslick brings a lot of excitement to the races (race style w/backing it in, sliding out of corners) but last week end was over the top . I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of sponsors didnt look elsewhere next year. (Geico insurance??)
I'd love to hear what Herrin had to say about the race.

Were there any comments from Herrin after the race? I havent seen anything, but I was surprised when speed didnt interview him afterwards.
