oh, my Arai has the same system. the best way i could figure out is to bang your head on the ground real hard.... if you do it right the shield will pop right off.
face it away from you, grab it and spread the sides a little and over-open it
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
There is a video of it out there somewhere. Maybe on arai's website. I was looking for it but my browser is missing a plugin or some crap.
you can also lift those levers that pop out and over-open the shield.
It takes some getting used to but once you get it it is very quick and easy.

They make it look so easy on the instructional video and in the shop. What major pain in the ass!
It's a major PIA.
The video wasn't much help for me. It took Karaya to show me how before I had the courage to actually do it. You have to use so much force that you'll swear you're going to break something.

flip shield up facing you
inside youll see 2 lil levers push thoes up and push shield up more... then it SHOULD go back till about the vents are touch the shield (thats how it is on my signet gtr) where in wester mass... if your close ill do it for you lol
ditto the pain in the ass comments.
Also the first time I tried to replace the shield I broke one of the side pod covers.
Its one of the reasons that I won't buy another Arai.

If you stop by this weekend I can do it for you, I'd be glad to - it's pretty straightforward once you realize there isn't any 'positive' engagement or disengagement until the shield is sitting on the bench![]()
put it on ebay and buy a shoei x-11

Yea I watched the Arai vid and it helped. I can change mine around pretty quick now. Just takes practice.

Its an odd combo of force and skill.
It took me a long time to get confident doing it.
You need to spread the lens just a bit to get it
over the catches on the helmet. That's what the little
levers are for but they dont completely work.
In fact I've lost them many times and you can still do it
without them.
Anyway as you spread the lens gently out away from the helmet
you have to scoop up and away with the lens from
the helmet.
once you get the hang of it its fast...
My Shoei sheild comes off in about 1.5 seconds with the pull of 2 tabs.![]()
I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
i had an Arai rep come into a shop one time and hes going on and on about how easy it is to change the sheild. so pull out my RF800 and say "is it easier than this?" and he says it is. then he wants to race. so i pull mine off and says i"i wasnt ready" so i put it back on say "go" and take it back off. then when he was "ready" i had already pulled mine off and put it in the time it took him to take it off.i can change my Shoei while wearing it. my Arai, it always feels/sounds like im breaking it.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

Fog City things work?
they polarize the lens too dont they?
Shoei doesn't have a size that fits me... And they a big shell. I have a tiny noggin. Not much in there...
Fog City is the ONLY thing that works. I can't race without it. It's like cheating when the conditions are wet/humid. I like the orange tint, but this one I just got is photochromatic. We'll see how it goes...
Photochromatic ?
Sound psychedelic man!
Pay Paul from MM a visit. He showed me a couple of times and now it is a breeze. People see me do it now and are like how the hell did you do that! It looked like you were going to break it.
