It's not bad if you can stand on the barriers that are there, but who wants to stand on those for 10 hrs a day?
In a perfect world, some rolling bleachers or other temporary fixture would be ideal. Put it up next to the fence and let it sit there until CRAPCAR comes to town.
this is just what i heard, apparently during nascrap people in lower seats couldnt see cars down back straight when RV's were parked there
Fuckit. I'm bringing some scaffolding next year.
I'm going to put Bergs in one of these so he can get some good pics.

Most reasons mentioned above.
Lowered the road bed so the bleachers made useless.
The access road above turn #9 is inside the fence. Yahoo's would walk down to the edge of the track or try to be helpful Hanna's.
On open practice days and Penguin, I let people park next to the fence at 3/10 and stand on or in their trucks for a better view. Don't think this is really allowed but.....
What Gino said. Corner work. You can take pics while working as long as you don't let it interfere with your responsibilities.

Yes I hate it as well, it has ruined the best spot for spectating the races.
Too close to the track there with no wall/fence and no easy way to get on/off that area during a hot track. You would have to enter that area at 8am and not leave until 5pm.
More like Scottie with a street bike.

I wouldn't mind cornerworking so much, but it doesn't give you the opportunity to walk around and talk to friends in the pits between races.
I am happy that they decided to pull the photographer stand inside the fence at T1/1A/2 though.
I guess I'll have to settle for snapping photos there are inside the camera cage at T12.
If they could make it work having stands by turn nine that would be the ball sack!
Years ago the fence ran just inside the tree line in 7, 8 and 9. Right behind the tree house. That was a good place to spectate.
