Last I heard, he was in intensive care SOMEWHERE. His name is Rob and he does some part time tire changing stuff for Street & Comp during race weekends. He pitted just behind us the first coupla race weekends. He was that dude on the BMX bicycle that kept popping over and shooting the shit with us those weekends....
I know he's from upstate NY, and he's pretty much on his own. He spoke of a girlfriend, but that was about it. When I find out where he is (if he's local), I'm gonna try to pay him a visit. Homeboy's gonna be mighty lonely once he comes to...
I'm gonna try to find out as much as I can today. I'll keep ya'll posted as I get info...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
The basics (as I heard them).
Crushed chest
massive head injury (head hit the tarmac when the bike hit him and his helmet had already come off in the impact) Basically, he has a hole in the back of his head.
Severe facial injuries
Drug induced coma because of convulsions
broken back
He was in surgery all night at Dartmouth hospital (Lebanon, NH)
Status is critical in intensive care.
As I said, this is from sources I respect at the track, but NOT first hand accounts.

I hope he pulls out of it... I happen to be along the fence in turn 6 to take pics of my father-in-law that race when it happened... talk about feeling helpless... we're just yelling.. stay down stay down... but he tried to get up from what we could tell... and the inevitable happened... it was aweful to watch....![]()
I had heard he was using a plastic snap on his helmet instead of the D-ring... which may have contributed to it getting flung off... I dunno the validity to that and well at this point it doesn't matter... again... I just hope he pulls through...
Mike
The strap on his helmet sheared off at the left side. I heard he was using a seatbelt style strap, but the buckle did not release, the strap sheared.
Derek
jeezus, that sux![]()
hope the local miracle workers @ Dartmouth are in good form...

Does anyone remember the color of his leathers?
As I went through 6, there was a rider rolling on the track, dark leathers, guy in front of me missed his foot by an inch, I cleared him no problem to the outside.
I don't know if it was him on the track, I looked into his face shield as I cleared him, he was rolling.
Say Jay, let us know, I'd like to join ya for a ride to see him. Barb and I signed the card, and made a small donation at S&C.

Black leathers with some blue in them I think.

That was him.
Get well soon bro.

His initial crash was nothing... a lowside... probably could have hoped back on the bike and kept racing... he just didn't have the momentum to get off the track.... the bike made it just to the side of the track...
My father-in-law passed through just after the bike impacted the rider... had him land without the helmet right next to him as he went through... and then had to aviod the second rider who was rolling in front of him...
As legal said... get well soon man....
Jay, do you have any updates?

Not I. I was thinking of calling up there in a coupla days when things have stablized.Originally posted by legalspeed

I know his name is Rob, and I *THINK* his last name is Hadley, but I can't say for certain. Is anyone sure of his last name?

I was trying to figure that out myself... Hadley is #703 which I am 99% sure that was the number on the bike.... I have been searching the net for a bit now and haven't come up with anything...Originally posted by Stoneman

I just got off the phone with Lisa Hadley the riders wife. He is doing "ok" all things considered.
He does have a broken pelvis, 5 broken ribs on each side, broken femur (now with a harrington rod) a broken ankle, broken collar bone and colon damage that will require further surgery tomorrow. He currently has a colosotmy bag.
He did suffer a sever concussion but responds to doctors by wiggling toes and fingers when asked and from what brain activity they can see had not suffered a head injury or should not have any major imparements once out of the drug enduced state.
She is doing ok as well. She expects that he will be released in the next 10-15 days pending the out come of his next surgery tomorrow. She has recieved many calls and letters from the racing community and is very impressed with all we have done as a track family. Its going to be a long haul and DART has offered up any support we can.
If you would like to call the hospital the number is 603-650-5000 and ask for ICU Waiting room. Ask for Lisa she'll be there.

Thanks for the update Scott!
Those are pretty serious injuries but all things considered he seems to be pulling through ok... Just goes to show that the human body as fragile as it is, is actually very strong

The rider, Rob Hadley, is still in intensive care at Dartmouth Hitchcock in
Lebanon, NH. His wife Lisa is staying at a nearby hotel. Robs condition
appears to be good considering what happened. I just spoke with Jenna Elmore
and she informed me that he is still unconscious and has numerous broken
bones, but from what I understand, the hospital has ascertained that the
extent of his head injuries are minimal - very encouraging news considering
what I saw.
It's going to be a very long road to recovery for Rob, and while he does
have health insurance, it's still going to be a tremendous financial burden
on him and his family. Jenna is trying to coordinate a fundraiser to help
Rob and Lisa defray some of their costs. If you wish to help, have any ideas
or know someone who could contribute something to a raffle or auction,
please contact Jenna:

Again, many thanks from Lisa, Rob's wife, for all the support! She said
today that now she knows why Rob loved racing so much. We all know it's the people not just the sport. Also, many thanks to all of you who are helping out.
As for Rob, he is doing good. The doctors opted against the surgery today, deciding that they could perform everything they needed to do at the bedside. They have also moved Rob out of ICU to a less critical area of
rooms called the tower. He is now going through the process of waking up
and coming out of it all, including the medication that they have had him
on to keep him down. If you wakes up completely by Monday, then the
doctors are going to try to get him to sit up. He is already trying to
pick himself up including lifting his leg with the pin in it. This is
making doctors very optimistic and they are excited about his progress.
Also, if he wakes up completely by early next week then possibly he might
be transferred at the end of next week to a hospital closer to home
(Galway, NY). The doctors still expect that he will make a full recovery,
but it will take while. This is all great news and I know we are all
sending our best wishes to Rob to continue the progress.
In case some of you are new to this distribution list, the CrowBar Racing
team will be holding a benefit during the Labor Day weekend at the NHIS
track for Rob. Features will include an auction by Jerry Wood, a Pit Bike
Race, a Raffle, and other festivities -- Spread the word! If you have
anything to raffle or auction off, or would like to help out, please
contact me. Details are being finalized and as soon as we have more info,
I'll email you all. Also, we have established a Rob Hadley Fund account.
Anyone who wants to donate money, can send checks made out to "Robert
Hadley Fund" and mail them to:
