Current hope is to hit Daytona in March, Mid-Ohio in August and then COTA in Sept? Those are all within my driving range, the big challenge is going to be affording these trips and figuring out crew/help at each event. Depending on finances/etc, COTA may just be a trip to crew for Ritchie if he ends up making a go of it himself. Running Laguna on anything is still on the bucket list, but not within my current logistical abilities.
We should talk. I have a few questions but I have a bike 90% ready..![]()
Duuuuuuude! Hit me up any time!
I travelled with Keith a few times. Always a great time.
Is Josh at Daytona?
Someone wrote on fb he had a mechanical and not racing
Josh's post on WERA:
Buell didn't make the grid, I was 13+ seconds off the qualifying cutoff after 11 total laps ever at Daytona in FP1 and Q1, I wasn't going to magically find them in 5 or 6 laps of Q2, and my trap speed of 136 vs 169 could have been a bad time. (Though the top guys all were polite blitzing me, and signaled after the pass.) I called it last night. That banking is intimidating as fuck, but still fun as hell, happy I got to ride it under a green flag but I think my MA shenanigans are done now.
Nothing to be ashamed of. He gave it an honest go, more than a lot of us could say.
Confirmed, I left yesterday morning before racing got underway. I had one minor item tech requested I change after Q1 but didn’t have the tools on hand to do it properly, did the math and even if I sorted it in time for Q2 at 9am I wasn’t going to qualify. I was also the only aircooled bike that completed Q1, the Polaris sadly had an unresolved running problem.
Proud of you bud. Solid effort all around.
I have the bike, I have an opportunity to get track time and hopefully instruction there before the event, and if I somehow have money left after there is a Penguin day that Monday... compounding bad decisions is always the right plan, yes? Registration submitted for MotoAmerica at Mid Ohio, the quest to qualify gets one more attempt.

If you're trying to pass that off as the Buell, maybe remove the Yamaha emblems?
No Hooligans there this weekend, but there should be Loudoners there for Jr Cup and Supersport. Superbike/Stock 1000 and KotB will also be running.
So what’s the build plan? Can’t really see front the picture, but assume this is an FZ-07?
I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
2024 MT-09, going to be built for SuperHooligans as the Buell was, but this time I'm not holding back worrying about potentially reverting to street mode down the road or pretending this will be a one and done thing. I've got to do some Yamaha parts bin shopping to dial it in as the bike out of the crate is too short for it's torque, and the tank shape limits how low you can go with the bars, etc so it'll end up looking different in race mode. Budget determines how kinda superbikey I can get, likely going to sell the Pan America to free up some income fortunately with a liquid cooled bike and the new 2025 rules there are limits on what can be done, and these bikes respond REALLY well to budget tweaks.
I also intend to run as many Loudon rounds as I can, HW class (so not super competitive...), though I might have to skip the first two rounds as they may be too close to the first two Hooligan rounds of MotoA which sucks. Short term, see if I can get through the break in before my temp plate expires?![]()
Oh man, minty fresh bike!! Congrats!!! I just assumed you picked up a used one. The up/down quick shifter alone is a game changer. Sweet!

The fact that the shifter works when it shouldn't was a big part of what sealed the deal for me... Hard on the gas but wanna DOWN shift? Bring it, I got you boss!
