well nobody else.
looking back through the past couple posts, i can see why he thinks people are assuming he is dirty, and maybe they are, its not for me to say. IMO its just a very close pass, yes thats racing and i'm sure bergs was in complete control. the problem i see, and what i think others see, thats very close for a novice pass. while bergs knows what he is doing, he can't be 100% confident in what the other rider was going to do or how he was going to react being stacked up in a corner. chances are good, the rider sees bergs and just stands the bike up and gets on the brakes, no big deal. but the reality of the situation is the fact that doesn't always happen in a race and a lot of us have seen close passing in novice classes end badly. just my thoughts
edit: and i'm not just picking on novices here, AM's and EX's screw up as well. but thats the reality of the situation. you can't be 100% confident everyone is going to stay on their line and not get spooked especially in the NV class.

The following responses are my concern:
...and let's not forget when the general reading public goes and says this:
So, no, no one's said outright that I'm a dirty rider but now I'm either that or a liar......in either case, not exactly the mantra I was shooting for especially seeing how everyone's seemingly already forgotten the numerous posts in this thread from other members noting his "unique" choice of lines.Originally Posted by -jro-

...and Kitt, just in case you missed the PM, thanks for bumping this thread with bullshit.
Good lookin' out.
ok , ok... I posted this cause I remember you saying you and another guy came together.... Then I see people thinking they are racing gods saying they should have a chat... So I post up that both were on their own lines... Dunno how this turned into a SERIOUS thread, or bergs-bashing...
Thread will be deleted if that's the case.
If I truly had an issue I would have said something right away, either directly to the rider or by involving LRRS officials. If people took it upon themselves to say something to this guy, then that's a situation which is out of my hands and certainly not at my request.
In my mind this situation always has been "no harm, no foul". Also in my mind is the fact the he came down on me when I was already on my way by.
But then again, the pictures do in fact tell the entire story, it just depends on how you choose to see them.
Keep this thread up. Someone will learn something from it someday.
Bergs,
Doors open and Doors Close... believe me, I know. Just by the 3 pics... I can tell you were going much faster than the rider you are passing. The door was open, you committed, the door started to close (probably before you even knew it) and you both made it through. Store it for future knowledge. Its all you can do. I seriously doubt anyone is saying it was a dirty pass or you are out of control.
Dont sweat it, in the heat of battle...sometime we see an opportunity (a rider starting to run off line) and we strike. The rider can sometimes correct their line before we are able to correct our commitment! In some races I am doing 12's passing thunderbike guys doing 24's - - - it gets ugly quick if you are not on top of your game and aware of the situation.
As they teach in the Penguin School. Its the passing riders responsibility to make a clean pass on the other rider.
Like u said, the guy didn't complain, you didn't complain... move on to the next race and store all that has happened for future info. I wouldn't read into it any further.
SG
Right.
Myis just saying 'whoa'. Like as in "Whoa that's a crazy pass" "whoa that's tight" "whoa nelly"
IT DID NOT SAY "My friend Paul is a stupid assfucker dirty rider" so don't take it as such.
Would I have made that pass right there? I dunno probably not as the inside of 9 isn't one of my ideal passing places, I probably would have set him up for the outside of 11 myself, but that's just me as that's one of the spots I like (T9 isn't one of the spots I like) You saw a opening that you felt was there so you went for it. Doesn't change the fact it's apass.
You know we boys and that I'll shoot you straight. All good yea?
Hey btw I brought you back a gift from Infineon....

I'm not sure what's with the very defensive and accusatory tones of the thread, but either way count me out.![]()

No one has publically stated it but, when I've been working my ass off to be smooth as well as fast, alls it takes is a picture (or 3) for people to pass judgement....something I felt I had prepare for upon seeing the pics and subsequent responses (the responses are what really heightened my concern to address this topic)
I apologise for my defensive reaction to this. At the end of the day, the last thing I want is for my peers to see me as a "no holds barred" kind of rider and that's why I jumped on the defense right away. We all know it doesn't take much for people to change their perception along with taking a thread such as this one to another level. I had a similar occurance where the thread was deleted before I could defend myself and......well....just know that I feel there's good reason for me jump on this like I did.
Thank you, Scott, for your insight. I will certainly chalk this up as "situational information for racing purposes only" and resume not losing sleep.
What the hell was Aaron laying around the pits for? Does this mean I have to feed him too?
Bergs, You have presented yourself very well in this thread. Yes you got defensive but it was justified.
What I see in those pics is that you were faster than the rider in front and you went for the pass which ended up LOOKING like you stuffed it up the inside. Stuffing it up the inside can be a valid way to pass. In my limited experience I have been stuffed up the inside going into 9 a few times, not quite as late as what the pic looks like but still passed on the inside.
Clean pass, no harm no foul.
Plus I will differ to Mr. Greenwood. :twothumbs:

Well then, Pete, you'll have to forgive me for taking this stuff seriously enough where I don't want to be lumped, even remotely, into the same group as certain other LRRS racers who smash and crash their way to the podium.
As far as what people might be saying, there isn't much they can say at this point. I just feel there's something hanging over me from a certain other thread.........I think you have an idea which one I speak of. Seems I still carry it with me for some reason...![]()
