    Calling All Gnomes

Some of you might have noticed the gnomes hanging out on the wall near my post. Since the Labor Day Event is supposed to have some extra stuff thrown in to make it special, I figured that I should put a call out to see how many gnomes I can get lined up on the pit wall. The Don already donated their redneck cuzin from Gainesville, Florida, complete with a Gators logo on his cap. Bring 'em in, whatever you can find. Hell, swipe that one from your neighbor's garden if you have to. He'll think it was the brats across the street that took it! You don't have to donate yours, just loaning it for the weekend will do just fine!

    Calling All Gnomes

I'll try to round some up. And where were the "attention in the HADDOCK" calls this weekend? I didn't hear any, but the speaker near our pit was kinda screwy.....

I made 'em, but Sandy was grabbing the mike a lot, so I didn't get many out. Blew out the speakers in the Center Garages this weekend. I'm driving Grant nuts with the phone calls, 'cause fixing those things is like playing Whack-A-Mole.
Plan B is going to be encouraging everyone to get scanners, tune to 154.570 and have Laura make the calls, etc. over the cornerworker frequency. She did it yesterday.

Ya, I flew to radioshack friday night and bought one. Works great. You'll just have to have them say haddock over the radios!

thats what i have, i can't hear any of the announcements over by T3 where I pit. That was great that the calls were made on that frequency.

Good to hear. I'll have her continue to do so, maybe even work on getting her to say "haddock"!

Yeh, can't do shit nowadays without Jesse and Al jumpin' ugly on you. Those who listen to the CW frequency might have noticed the reference to "General Lee". That's the crash truck, and I dubbed it that because it's red and the driver's door doesn't open. It would be nice to complete the theme by painting a Confederate flag on the roof, but...........

    Calling All Gnomes

    This from Laura:
I try - but tell them I can't always promise to do it... Best for them to know:
Start of sprint race = first call next race
Past half way = second call
Last Lap = third and final call

IF it is a GT race, then Past Half Way is around 1st call, and last lap is 3rd and final. You're on your own for 2nd call.

And PLEASE encourage SCANNERS not radios. Too many radios allow for possible open mics, kids not knowing and playing with them, and interference from other radios in the area. We would love for them to have SCANNERS, not radios.

    Laura
I also explained to her what "haddock" was all about. Stay tuned........

They will be on the upper pit wall. Only thing that causes crashes there are the cones. Had one last weekend. I was motioning somebody to stop to talk to me and they were so distracted by me that they tucked the front end on a cone.
