Anyone got a carb sync tool I could borrow, preferably not a liquid based one as I'd be willing to bet I'd be the guy to suck it all out by accident? Gotta dial in my FCR rack a bit better if possible.
I believe I do. I will look tonight for you. it is an old mechanical one.
I have a Morgan Carbtune (not liquid) but won't see you until Friday, let me know if nothing else works out and I can bring it.

Local shop actually let me borrow an old Honda sync tool, four gauges and a LOT of rubber with manual damping adjustment. Royal PITA to use, and I'm not a fan of adjusting the FCRs now, holy finicky... but at least they're all now in the same planetary orbit compared to before. Still getting that hanging idle but at this point, I'm just going to run it.
I have a motion pro (fluid type) that is pretty easy to use. You'd be welcome to borrow it if you strike out.
Thanks, I think the next step after this weekend is going to be hooking up with a shop/dyno* who has practice on these to try and get it right while learning. I know the theory but just don't have any practical experience with these FCRs and it seems the theory sends me backwards at times.
* This is assuming I find a shop willing to work with me on my chimera and it's fussy/fragile carbs.
I have a mercury one that needs mercury. Not exactly tops on the list, but you're welcome to it if you can't work something out and can get some mercury for it...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
I'm building a real-time "dyno" that is an innovate LC-1 wideband o2 sensor, AFR gauge, and a gopro that can see the gauge, throttle, and tach. $160 from amazon. You can go run a practice session, look down at the gauge any time you want to see how you're doing, and then come back and watch the video and know where you are. Seems more portable and cheaper than dyno time to me.
Tuning to a target AFR doesn't always equate to tuning for optimal power or throttle response. That said, I've got an AFR gauge with wideband O2 sensor and bung ready to be mounted one of these days, plus a go-pro. What I need now is not so much raw data but access to experience with these particular carbs and their quirks.
And spare velocity stacks... surprise surprise 20 year old plastic exposed to who knows what for fuels is getting brittle... bah.
I have a non fluid carbtune i'd be willing to sell

just picked up an Emgo Carburetor Synchronizer from BikeBandit.com for $71.95 (delivered with Free shipping & 10% AMA Member discount). Apparently, List price was $126.59 for BikeBandit.com Part Number 2793465 and was on sale for $79.95. I know somewhere I have one of those mercury ones, but that seemed kinda delicate to use. This one is good for 2, 3 or 4 cylinders, so it should be pretty easy to get carbs synced on my twin-cylinder bikes.
