You can argue that "prestige" wise, LRRS falls below CCS due to regional scale... but, while I personally have only raced outside of LRRS once, from everything I've seen LRRS has some of the toughest competition and unparalleled comraderie.

    Long 22 hour drive back.

As far as LRRS goes, their officials, program/schedule, and camaraderie is better. But not the competition. It's mostly owned by the same 10 riders that have been riding that track forever. It's what makes amateurs sandbag for as long as they can. There's no shot in doing well, with very few exceptions.

CCS regions travel to other tracks, so it's not ways the same AM or EX riders winning everything all the time. To me, that is a better competition.

    Re: CCS ROC Daytona 2013

Glad to see everyone had fun. Shane and I both had a good time down there in spite of results that were not to either of our liking. Daytona is a track that really rewards power. Shane definitely had the slowest bike of the front running riders, and although mine was a little better than his, it was not quite up to the 145+HP R6 superbikes of Mark Miller or Greg Melka. To their credit, those guys ride well - but those bikes make them really tough to beat to the finish line. Add in the talented and quite "undersized" AMA front runners Stefano Mesa and Joe Roberts on good bikes in the mix and it's quite a battle.

Part of the challenge of Daytona is just figuring out how to be in the right place on the last lap. No one wants to lead (except the guy with a super fast bike that you cannot draft), so often the last lap is slower than all the rest. Daytona is the only place that the gap between 1st and 5th is always small. Every race seems to come down to the last lap. In every one of the middleweight races, the winner never had a margin of victory of more then 0.1 seconds! My 4th place finish I was .06 behind the leader! Crazy stuff...but normal for Daytona.

For anyone who races, it's absolutely worth the experience. I had been a few years for me, and I forgot what I good time it was to do 170 mph side by side with a pack of 5 riders. I'd love to see 20 guys from LRRS down there next year....

Here's the barn burner from 2008 with (I'm pretty sure) both Eric and Jeff in the mix.

Here's my video of the Am ULSB race on Sunday. Yeah, I know my start sucked but at least it makes for an exciting first lap as I work my way forward. The rider that I duel with at the end of the video is an expert. The first three amateurs were long gone. There was no way my little Hawk was going to keep up with those superbike SV's. My best lap time was a 2:11.205 and I finished fourth.

JEZZUS CHRIST that was exciting... How fast about are you going when you hit the chicane on the back stretch? Or go into 1????

i know the GPS data on my 600 was saying 150 - 155 at the 1 board. Around the flag station after the 1 board, the MW bikes will drop down 3 gears, then down to 2nd before tipping in

Sweet video John, I like being able to see the various lines etc. from the onboard. Gives a whole new perspective to the things we talked about all weekend in the pits.

    Re: CCS ROC Daytona 2013

i wasnt paying attention to the tach in the banking in Thursday practice. after watching the video that night, i started paying more attention and making sure all my shifts were in the 14k-15k range. FYI, that's a 750 tach, so the red line and limits are slightly lower than what a 600 tach would show.

Just look at your Duno sheet and see where the HP curve starts to fall off, and shift there..... real easy

Based on an earlier discussion, you should be looking at the torque curve, not HP.
